2027 Prospect Update: MD/DC Top 20 Combo Guards

Zion Prep in the Elite Prep League this season after being an instrumental piece to New Heights capturing the 17U 3SSB championship in July. The 6-foot-2 combo guard can impact the game on both ends of the floor, but is at his best in transition where his downhill tendencies and strength as he plays through contact comes to light. He's an athletic finisher with a clear launching pad, a capable shooter off the catch and is continuing to build confidence with his playmaking skills off the dribble. He's active in the passing lanes defensively, can help close down the glass as a good positional rebounder and is switchable between either backcourt spot.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>4. A gifted natural scoring lefty, McKenzie's fluidity operating off the bounce is easy on the eyes. He's gets to spots quickly off the dribble and can stop on a dime for pull-ups. He's effective at drawing contact on drives or attempts around the rim to demand the whistle and force his defender to adjust their aggression. With good size at 6'4"-6'5" and a playground style of scoring package, he's the sort of offensive threat that can quickly change the course of a game. He can tee off from the corners as a spot-up shooter, use his twitch and length to establish advantages off the dribble and use instincts as a cutter to set himself up for easy looks at the cup. Following a summer with Blue Devils/[program_tooltip program_id='2458561' first='Global' last='Squad'], Jones will be counted on to generate offense both as a scorer and playmaker if Glenelg Country wants to make serious waves in the MIAA. He brings great positional size and length around 6'3"-6'4" that allows him to toggle defensively between multiple positions if needed. He's no stranger to being a presence on the glass and has developed overall as a point guard after being forced to take over the duties last season due to injury to their then starting PG.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>19. Head coach Chris Douglas designed his roster around a bunch of tough, physicals guard with size who can score it in a pretty balanced manner through all three levels. Germain offers to most skill and upside of the group, in my opinion, as a 6-foot-2 southpaw that can create space in isolations, finish around the rim in traffic, but arguably most important, demands attention from his defender at all times with his lethal outside shooting ability from deep.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
