Not only did he prove that he could handle things as a primary ball handler in pressure-filled environment, but he maintained his strong outside shooting presence that allowed the Mustangs to force overtime where it took a miraculous buzzer beater to upend them. He'll likely split on-ball duties with Scott as the two form arguably one of the top backcourt duos in the Maryland Public School landscape, but in stints last season Mensah was leaned on to run the offense and did so successfully. He's a true two-way presence that head coach Mike Glick can count on to shut down the opposing team's top guard.

19. He can play the role as a table-setting point guard who uses his instincts and manipulates the defense with his eyes to open up plays for others. He's crafty on the ball to create space or alleviate pressure and uses his tight handle combined with effective change-of-pace attacks to keep his defender guessing. He may have to take on a bit more scoring than in years past for Winston Churchill this season, but the way he garners college attention is by managing the pace of games and making life for those around him easier.

As the fall approaches, we kick off another series here at Prep Hoops MD/DC where we'll spotlight the top-20 prospect at each position. We'll go through various classes in this manner, but we rightfully kick things off with the point guard belonging to the rising senior class

State: Maryland
School: Winston Churchill
Club: District Basketball Club

Camps is a steady point guard prospect who will be one of the better true floor generals in the always talented Montgomery County.

Evaluations are normally subscriber-only but when an athlete subscribes, theirs becomes free for all readers. Subscribing doesn't change who the Scout covers, it changes who gets to see it.
