Obi is a steady perimeter scorer that likes to set the tone with his shooting and defense. Liked the way Obi kept the pace and kept his composure against defensive pressure. Obi made smart reads with the ball and mixed in drives that drew fouls, keeping defenders off balance. He also contributed defensively by forcing turnovers in the backcourt. His ability to step up and provide consistent scoring made him a key piece in his team’s run that fell just short in the MPSSAA Semifinals.

Mensah put together some of his strongest performances of the year when it meant most and despite coming up short in overtime thanks to a buzzer-beater from Blake, the 6-foot southpaw’s character was on full display. His body of work is why he makes his debut in the top-100, but this game in particular spoke volumes to me as

was sidelined for much of the game due to injury and other key producers weren’t in rhythm. Instead, it was Mensah embracing the bright lights by teeing off from deep and converting pivotal three’s to keep Meade in position to win. He’s a stout and prideful defender from the point of attack and has a strong frame that withstands contact on drives. In the last few weeks of this season, I think Mensah’s overall growth and confidence is going to spike not only a productive spring/summer, but have him ready to step in and be a key component to make another run in the Class 4A field next season.

Mensah was the other Meade prospect who reached double-digit scoring figures with 10 on the game. When Scott and Soumaoro are having the impact that they did in this one, Mensah seems to always be the one that serves as the guy whose energy on both ends can be the one that breaks the opponent. A sturdy-framed southpaw combo guard, Mensah has a dependable stroke from three off the catch that he shoots with great confidence and balance. When he sniffs out a driving lanes, his physicality comes into the picture as he absorbs contact well while maintaining ability to finish around the rim. He’s a stout defender with effective lateral speed to matchup against either backcourt spot and can hold his own against bigger guards again, because of his physical frame. He grabbed a handful of rebounds in this one, which he’s been consistent with all season as a plus rebounder from the guard spot.
