-Bigs usually develop later in their career and Yotter has all the signs and measurables that indicate long-term success. Yotter stands tall at 6’10, has improved his conditioning to run the floor effectively in both directions, and is taking strides as a play-finisher around the rim. Love that he is ducking in harder around the basket but timing in those duck-ins to wait til the ball has swung around the horn to his side of the floor. The state champions graduate a ton of depth in their backcourt and should be a brand new team in the fall that should rely on Yotter’s skillset. If he can continue to develop his hands to come up with tougher catches in traffic, he should be an absolute force in Anne Arundel County.

Yotter didn’t have a loud statistical game, but he’s hard to go unnoticed given the fact that he’s the tallest player on the floor in most public school matches. Standing around 6’9″-6’10”, the junior is a catch-and-finish guy around the rim who keeps the ball high, something that many bigs struggle to do in the heat of the moment. His size and presence came into play often on South River misses and on a couple of occasions, he grabbed the board and forced a foul from the opposing big. Yotter scored five points in his 10 minutes of action. In a local market that lacks prospects of his size, Yotter could help his stock quickly with steady improvement this spring and summer.

-One of our highest risers this cycle, Yotter has been working hard with two-a-day practices for most of the offseason to get ready for this year. He had a great showing at the John Lucas camp in Texas and should hopefully carry that momentum into this season with South River. Yotter is a traditional back to the basket big that has a pretty consistent right hook from the block, has improved his footwork to become a better scorer around the basket, and has developed better feel on his boxouts to know where the ball is coming off the rim. Should be the best big in AA County basketball this season and get plenty of opportunity to showcase his skillset alongside a talented guard group.

Nickolas Yotter was one of the players at the Be Elite camp that did not need to score to impact his team’s performance. Yotter was physical in the paint, battling for loose balls and rebounds as well as being a great hustle and vocal player. Yotter knows how to fill his lane properly in transition and run the floor with deceptive speed for his size. Nickolas is a great energy presence and holds down the paint well with fundamental defense.
