-Scott willed his way to a Regional Championship and a State Semifinal appearance before a shoulder injury cut his night short, turning in a herculean performance as a dynamic playmaker for a Meade team that went 25-2 this season. Scott turned in several 30+ scoring outbursts despite being the focal point of defensive gameplans, showing an improved maturity in his reads in the halfcourt as a guard that was difficult to speed up or turn over. Love the pace that he played with coming off of ball screens and the diversity in his shot diet as a guard that took what the defense gave him while flashing improved passing off the bounce. Our staff anticipates an uptick in his recruitment this offseason as college coaches get a chance to check in on the Anne Arundel County Player of the Year with Team Takeover .

Scott has an argument for being the best public school prospect in the state and the savvy junior lead guard has the Mustangs humming with a 24-1 overall record as they’re set to host Seneca Valley tonight for a spot in the semifinals. Scott is dynamic as they come and when the motor is running high, there hasn’t been a team on their schedule who can contain him for a full 32-minute period. He’s able to fill up a handful of categories on the box score and pose as a legitimate three-level scoring threat where he uses the gravity he demands to make his teammates’ lives easier. In the regional title game, Scott was good for 21 points, 12 assists, seven rebounds and four steals.

The likely AA County Player of the Year looked better than the initial meeting in terms of coming out from the opening tip with a purpose. He wouldn’t explode in the scoring column like he did when he went for 32, but the comfort and control that he ran the Mustangs’ offense with in the half court was much more impactful this go around. It showed in a double-double fashion with 12 points and 10 assists as time-and-time again Scott would expose openings in the backline of the zone with one-hand zip passes to Somaoro or others for quick scores. He threw a couple of nice lobs to his big from the perimeter as he manipulated the backline with his eyes to make them think he was going to throw a skip pass to the corner. An underrated aspect of Scott’s game is his shot-blocking prowess for a point guard. He uses his springy athleticism and good timing as a weak side defender to catch others by surprise at the rim and accounted for three blocks in this one.

Keon let everyone know why he’s so highly regarded in the 2027 class after this recent performance against South River. He was a tone-setter defensively and attacked aggressively in the open floor. Made a strong on-ball stop, then turned a steal into an and-one finish on the break. Next possession he chased down a block, showing great effort and timing. After missing a couple shots early, Keon settled in with a smooth floater which was nice to see from such a potent scorer. Scott was at his best when he played decisive and attacked quickly, especially in transition where he finished through pressure multiple times. He also made the right play as a passer, dishing off after rotations on a pick-and-roll to an open shooter. Consistently hit spot-up threes to keep the defense honest. Defensively he covered ground and even hustled out for a huge block at the three-point line. Dominant game from Keon in a big Mustang W, a common theme this season.

Scott makes his debut in the top-10 and it comes well deserved. Viewed as arguably the best player in the Maryland Public School sector, Scott has Meade buzzing with an unblemished 10-0 record and positioned to be serious contenders for not only the Anne Arundel County crown, but the Class 4A state title. He’s proving himself as a lead guard who can call his own number when necessary or a guy who can play make and elevate those around him. The Mustangs’ overall success ultimately rides on the shoulders of Scott and so far, the signs that he’s given have been nothing but optimistic for what is to come.

Scott’s name was trending significantly among private school programs after a productive summer with Team Takeover on the EYBL Circuit. Instead, the 6-foot-2 guard has remained loyal to Meade and has set the early tone as the best guard in the Maryland public school sector. If there were any doubts in that statement, they were erased after his showing Saturday morning in a win over Loyola Blakefield (MD) as he posted a ridiculous stat line of 37 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and four steals. As the box score indicates, Scott’s overall skillset continues to round out nicely as the smaller aspects such as adjusting his scoring approach based on the flow of the game unfolds. Scott is in the top-15, but could see a healthy boost in the next update with sustained production.

Keon may have been the Xaverian Classic MVP of the day, absolutely dominating in every way. The defense could not contain him, giving up a huge 35+ point game to the star Meade guard. When Keon’s shot was off a couple times in a row, he made adjustments and got himself into scoring positions at the basket by patiently breaking down the zone. Keon played the game at a different kind of pace that helped him seek out weaknesses in the defense and consistently beat the zone/traps. Made some jumpers but really stood out to me in the way he kept the defense guessing, able to get his shot off when he wanted or use the change-of-pace to get by the defense and make a smooth layup at the rim. Statement type of game as the Meade star got the chance to perform in front of a new crowd at the Xaverian Classic in Olney.

-Scott breaks into our top 20 with really stellar play in summer league and on the AAU circuit with TTO. Scott plays with great pace whether or not he has a ball screen and is able to fluidly get to his spots in the halfcourt. The handle has improved to allow him to weave through tighter spaces in the defense, specifically in breaking fullcourt presses and splitting double screens on ball screens to get downhill. He’s taking and making more 3s, getting to the FT line with regularity, and mixing in well-timed passes to teammates. He’s displaying all the markers of a HM basketball player, believe he has earned his spot in the upper echelon of DMV talent.

-Scott overcame some tired legs to be effective down the stretch for Meade as a play-making lead guard. He scored with several extension lays after taking a long stride 1-2 after the dribble pick-up, drove right down the gut off the SLOB to lay it up before the defense could react, snagged a steal at halfcourt and finished at the other end, and made a beautifully-timed bounce pass to a teammate for the easy deuce off the spin move instead of forcing up a tough fader in the key. Scott plays with great pace and has developing a good understanding of when to pass and when to score it on his own. Narrowly missed out on a triple double despite seeing several double teams and the opponent keying in on his drives to surround him with multiple defenders in the paint.

MBCA
-Arguably the best public school basketball player in the area, Scott is turning heads as a super quick scoring point guard that understands angles and timing in ball screen situations. His ability to shift in pace makes him really hard to stay in front of, and he is starting to execute more and more passing reads off the bounce as a dynamic play-maker. He finishes well with either hand around the basket, hits touch shots using difficult spots on the backboard, and is a capable C+S sniper from beyond the arc. With quick reflexes and hands, he can be really disruptive defensively both on and off the ball. Probably will be the best prospect in attendance at MBCA.
