Another available senior who was a key component in his team’s postseason success, Soumaoro brings the size that so many college programs are looking for in a forward. His frame should fill out nicely over time, but in the immediate, his length at 6-foot-6 allowed him to be a major impact on both ends in public school play. He’s an authoritative finisher in the open floor, gets off his feet quickly for to snag rebounds and has the potential to be a toosly defender who can switch in various situations. Meade’s season came to a close in the Class 4A semifinals to the hands of Blake, but Soumaoro refused to go down easy as he becomes one of the more intriguing college/prep prospects in Anne Arundel County and the public school sector as a whole. He makes a 7-spot improvement in his ranking from No. 73 to No. 66.

A big reason why Meade was able to avenge their only loss of the season when it mattered most was the 6-foot-6 senior forward’s play inside. After a quiet first quarter, Soumaoro’ energy picked up significantly and coming out of halftime, he turned it up even more by using the third and fourth quarter to account for 19 of his game-high 25 points. The momentum for both Soumaoro and Meade picked up in the second quarter as they started exposing the backline of Severna Park’s zone. Quick side-to-side ball movement had the defender’s scrambling and on many occasions, it was

darting lasers to his big man running short corner to short corner. He also made some nice finds on his catches in the dunker’s spot as the defense collapsed and showed a double team to cutting teammates diving towards the rim for lay-ups. As the Mustangs smelled blood in the water as were able to get out in transition, Soumaoro made sure to finish strong above the rim to ignite the Meade faithful. To go with his 25 points, Soumaoro pulled in seven rebounds and dished out four assists.

Soumaoro was a key ingredient in Meade’s strong win over Loyola Blakefield (MD) in the first game of the Xaverian Classic on Saturday morning. His body continues to gradually add strength to his 6-foot-6 frame and his athleticism allows for ripping down rebounds at their peak. Meade has its share of skilled guards led by 2027

, so Soumaoro was effective at corralling boards, quickly finding his guards and running the floor with intent. He can finish around the bucket with soft touch and even flashed ability to break down his man off the bounce and will his way to for scores. Soumaoro scored 10 points in Saturday morning’s win. He’s an athletic hybrid forward who will once again be a key contributor for the Mustangs as their poised to make another deep run in the state playoffs.

Arouna is a smooth athletic wing prospect that still has loads of potential to reach. The rising senior is a key 3&D player for Meade with an improving jumpshot and perimeter game offensively. He sets the tone with his defense and athleticism out on the break. Arouna can do some pretty impressive things on the court at times, but now looks for more consistency as the team’s starting forward. Able to dribble and slash his way to the rim, finishes inside well as he uses his size and quick-jump ability. Lot to like as the wing prospect continues to see his name rise the ranks in the 2026 class. Player to watch on the public school scene.

14p 8r 3a vs Whitman
-One of the more complete performances I’ve seen out of Soumaoro as he was a force in the paint for Meade against a swarming Whitman defense. He completed several tough catches in traffic to finish over the defense, showed a nice bag of footwork around the basket with a flurry of drop step or spin move finishes, showed an improved touch in the paint, and really impacted the game with his activity on the glass. His nose for the basketball continues to improve and he’s improving his IQ in how to move to space to be an easier passing target for driving teammates.

6p 10r 2b vs Bullis
-Soumaoro didn’t have a great day shooting the ball but more than made up for it with his activity on the glass in a game against Bullis. Loved the strides that he has made skill-wise as a ball-handler but also as a decision-maker that doesn’t gamble trying to thread passes through traffic and instead makes the fundamental play. His athleticism really stood out as he did a great job of sliding on the perimeter while also out-rebounding taller bigs and blocking shots around the basket. With his utility as a wing that can guard several positions with a pretty diverse skillset, I think he is a great candidate to go juco or prep for a year before hitting the ground running as a college basketball player.

Soumaoro is one we have highlighted before, but I believe he should earn more attention from college programs. He had a strong showing overall this leading Meade to the State Semi-Final defeat to the eventual champion Laurel HS finish the season with a 23-4 record. Soumaoro really gives you a glimpse of what he can provide on several levels. Soumaoro does a great job in using his 6’6 size to his advantage, and he has added muscle to his frame. He can create for himself, breaking down defenders and getting to the basket, or even flourishing again with his shot-making from mid-range or beyond. Soumaoro can be used in several areas of the floor with his overall skillset, size, and frame, which college coaches should find appealing at the next level.

Watched him scored the first 13 points in the Arundel game on Friday. Impress with his ability to face and knock down the 17–19-foot jumper with consistency. Showed the athleticism to finish at the rim. Love his energy on both ends of the floor. Name to monitor this spring and summer.

7p 15r 1s vs North County
-The shot wasn’t falling for him on this day but he found a way to impact the game as rebounder and off-ball mover. Soumaoro grabbed 15 rebounds, 4 of which were offensive boards in traffic to extend possessions for his team– the biggest of which gave him a trip to the line in OT. The footwork and lateral mobility seems much more fluid as he is able to guard most 2s and 3s while also guarding up against forwards when called upon. Had a great catch in traffic on the block and scored off a spin move and lay with the left off glass, then hit a C+S 3 in transition a few possessions later to show the offensive versatility

-Soumaoro has a chance to turn heads this season as an athletic wing prospect that can hit open shots, finish plays above the rim, and serve as a mobile small ball big defensively. Soumaoro moves to space well off the ball to serve as a C+S target as his teammates make their drives to the basket but also times his dives to rebound in the paint well before the shot goes up. His versatility at both ends of the floor should be key for a Meade Mustangs group looking to chase another ring.
