Hogg is that interchangeable piece next to Nelson that can play on or off the ball. He provided a needed jolt that his team needed in their lone win of the weekend as he cashed in on big triples to help swing the momentum and run away with a double-digit win over Canada Elite. He’s a stout defender at the point of attack and helped cause deflection with timely digs as drivers turned their head to him.

-Hogg came on strong at the end of the season, scoring 20+ multiple times down the stretch run of the season with a mix of perimeter jumpers, drives to the rim, and free throws. The son of a long-time youth coach, Hogg understands when he needs to move the ball and when he needs to call for a ball screen to create an advantage situation for his team. His scoring craft and bag of pivot moves in the paint allow him to maneuver around bigs to score with short jumpers from either side of the lane.

Was the obvious X-Factor for the Eagles in the Quarterfinal game against Bishop O’Connell showing. His ability to make plays for others while picking his spots and knocking shots from anywhere on the floor. He was an absolute problem for the O’Connell throughout the game. Scored 21 points on 9-16 from the field, 2-5 from the 3pt line, 5 rebounds, and 3assists.

Got a chance to see Chase a few different times during the weekend in AC. Chase was a constant factor in the success of the team with his performance. He led the way scoring the ball and defending the ball hard on the opposite end. Chase scored on all three levels and looked very good as the team’s most decorated scorer. Got to the line at least 3 times a game each time out while also finishing at the rim in different ways. Displayed a consistent floater in-between and made a lot of pullup jumpers in the midrange, which is key to his future success in the WCAC. Chase showed he can be a main piece for the team while helping out the team in all types of ways. Impressive all-around performance from the Gonzaga PG.

8p 4r 2a 1s vs DeMatha
-Thought Hogg provided the Purple Eagles with some much-needed stability down the stretch of a very close game with WCAC rival DeMatha Catholic. Hogg hit a HUGE 3 to make it a 2-possession game late in the 2H, collected a crucial steal down the stretch that led to a transition bucket that tied the ball game, and took care of the rock in a game where his team just didn’t have it going offensively. Hogg has a nose for the basketball and knows how to be in the right place defensively to force the issue for his team along the sideline or along the baseline. His cerebral play will likely be key for Gonzaga to compete in league play this season.
