Tchoubfong was one of the top stock-risers of June proving his worth in his new threads and in the process, making believers out of Drexel, FGCU, Le Moyne and Wagner as all four programs extended offers to the 6’5″ wing. His ability to present and take advantage of mismatches on the offensive end was evident. He can score it from all three levels based off his matchup. When he draws an opposing forward, he can space the floor out on the perimeter or attack them off closeouts where he gets to his spots with good balance. When a wing or someone with similar size is guarding him, Tchoubfoung can operate in the mid-post with his back to the basket and create angels in a variety of ways with crafty footwork, shot fakes, etc.

-The CHSL MVP has gotten plenty of love from our scouts in the past few weeks but earned a little more with his play in new threads with Bullis en route to a CHSL championship. I thought that his assertive play to erase a DM lead coming out of halftime was key in a big semifinal win to propel his team into the championship game, then to close out the title game win over his former team and younger brother. Love the versatility that he brings at the defensive end of the floor as a prospect that has bought in to guarding multiple spots and being more vocal in ball screen situations to lead a very young Bullis group. The consistency of his effort and leadership over his senior season should propel his recruitment to new heights along with the success of his team.

-Tchoubfong looked good in new threads on Falls Road as an efficient scorer that has improved his shot IQ to serve as a primary scoring option for Bullis. He attacked closeouts well from the wing, took good angles to the rim to score before help could arrive in transition, knocked down jumpers off the catch, and moved well off-ball to score on layups off of cuts to the rim. Tchoubfong is on an unofficial visit to La Salle today– and if he continues to score the ball within the flow of the game while giving Bullis a versatile defensive presence that can guard multiple spots– I expect his recruitment to pick up over the next few months.

Tchoubfong has been surging since making the move to Bullis, which he announced last month. The 6-foot-6 hybrid forward is a mismatch and doesn’t hesitate to take smaller matchups to the mid-post where he can finish at the rim or convert his fadeaway, which is becoming a routine shot for him. Bullis is a young roster and losing Xavier Skipworth to Montverde leaves a massive void to be filled, but Tchoubfong has proven he can help soften the blow with his size and versatility at both ends. His team went 1-3 facing stiff competition, but Tchoubfong was impressive in three out of the four games averaging 19.6PPG and 8.3RPG in that span.

Tchoubfong is looking to provide an extra jolt and bring further versatility to the wing/frontcourt rotation for Melo and he did just that on Sunday. He mucked up things defensively for New World given his swtichability and showed a willingness to hunt down rebounds out of his area with purpose. Offensively he did a good job of keeping things simple and attacking in straight-line fashion where he welcomed and absorbed contact well. The outside shot is still a work in progress, but when he catches it in rhythm and with space, he’s liable to convert like he did on one occasion in this scrimmage.

Izzy continues to leave his stamp on games with his physical presence and efficiency around the rim. Early on it was about owning the glass and cleaning up everything in sight, grabbing rebounds at a high rate and giving his team consistent extra possessions. He finished in the paint with ease and made it look simple, getting to his spots and converting without needing a lot of dribbles or complicated moves. Through two games against WCAC opponents, he’s been extremely efficient and his game translates because of how direct he is. He consistently rebounds, finishes quickly, and scores in one-on-one situations with limited actions. The impact is constant, and he’s the type of interior piece that keeps a team steady even when the pace speeds up.

Izzy had an efficient outing vs Boys’ Latin, finishing with 19 points and 12 boards. He started slow but finished the game strong, grabbing a fair amount of offensive rebounds and putback layups. He stepped beyond the arc and hit a big three to try to will Good Counsel back in it, but his effort was just short. Still, Izzy showcased his versatility as both a playmaker and a big body on the inside. Used both facets of his game in a big way, truly acting as a force inside the arc all game long.

Israel Tchoubfong has had an amazing spring and now summer for Good Counsel. Miller didn’t have an answer for Izzy, especially as a driver. He got the rim consistently, and Miller had to foul him. Izzy knocked down a three and did a good job on the glass. He finished with 23 points and 7 rebounds in a Good Counsel win.

Israel Tchoubfong was dominant for Good Counsel. Forest Park didn’t have an answer for him, and he was productive on offense from inside and out. Izzy always does a nice job finishing at the rim, but today he stepped out and hit 3 threes. He was impactful defensively, and I think he is turning into the kind of wing a lot of coaches like at the next level. He had 17 points. 

Izzy Tchoubfong Izzy Tchoubfong 6'5" | PF The Bullis School | 2027 State MD is an entertaining player to watch and is starting to put it together. Izzy does a great job attacking the basket and is a catch-and-shoot threat. He has high defensive potential as a wing, and he moves like a guard even though he has the size of a small forward. Izzy had a few tough finishes inside and led Good Counsel in scoring with 13 in a blowout over John Handley.
