Brooks was a mismatch nightmare and if you caught him in action this winter, it comes as no surprise. The 6-foot-6 forward uses his burly frame to establish commanding position in the mid-post where he can operate with his back to the basket or in face-ups and pose as a playmaking threat. On countless occasions, he used a couple of dribbles to set up his patented fadeaway jumper over his left shoulder. As his defender adjusted, he used shot fakes to get them in the air before stepping through to the rim for finishes with either hand. He played well out of short rolls and can process quickly as a scorer, but also made some nice skip passes to shooters in the corner spotting up for three’s. His best performance came in Premier’s lone win of the weekend where he logged a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds.

If you had to name another prospect in the public school sector closing in on Scott’s lead as top player, Brooks is your guy. The 6-foot-6 forward is a walking mismatch thanks to his blend of size, strength and skill. He’s able to operate in the mid-post and bully his defender under the rim for scores or pivot into face-up scenarios where he’s capable of knocking down shots or getting his defender off balance with an array of moves before drawing a foul on his way to the bucket. Brooks is also a threat when trailing in transition or in pick-and-pop scenarios where he can confidently step into three’s with supreme confidence. The reigning PG County Player of the Year put together a dominant 36-points outing in Flowers’ commanding win over Wise in the regional championship.

Last week when our 2027 rankings were updated, Brooks received a worthy bump thanks to his steady production and the perfect season that Flowers had been off to. Their record remains unblemished after a massive win at Wise last night and Brooks was the key ingredient after a shaky first quarter. The 6-foot-6 forward uses his burley frame as a mismatch nightmare for those in the public school sector and blended with skill, shot making and vision as a passer, has Flowers off to a 12-0 start and firmly in first place through the midway point. He’s rebounding as a high rate on both ends. Even on his own misses around the rim, he’s active in pursuing the ball at its peak, regaining balance and finishing through contact if needed. While he isn’t the quickest, Brooks has some shake to his game off the bounce and the confidence to pull-up off the dribble with good results.

Brooks has blossomed into one of the best prospects in the PG Public School sector and it won’t be long until he barges himself into the conversation for one of the most productive players in the state. Through seven games, the 6-foot-6 offensive hub averaged 25.4 points, 11.4 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game. For what he lacks in vertical athleticism, Brooks makes up for with his big-bodied frame that he knows how to use in order to expose mismatches against smaller guards/forwards. For more physical, slow-footed forwards, Brooks can play out on the perimeter or in the mid-range on face-ups and use his craft off the bounce to create the necessary angles or space to get his shot off. When the ball is airborne on either end, Brooks does a nice job of establishing leverage deep in the paint to position himself for boards. He’s a verbal leader and it doesn’t take long to see that this Flowers team runs off his intensity and energy.

Brandon was by far the most dominate player in the event in the two games. Scored 24 and 26 points in the games to capture the MVP honors in the Rip Tide Bracket. Given his incredibly consistent production in every setting, it’s impossible to ignore the value Brandon brings to a team. He is a wide body, forward with a quality blend of size, skill, and strength. Brandon frequently outworks opponents for extra possessions on both ends of the floor, both as a rebounder and hustle player. He finishes extremely well around the basket and scores seemingly everything he attempts within ten to twelve feet. Brooks display great touch but can also power through contact. He utilizes his strength and tenaciousness to wreak havoc defensively.

Brandon has built a lot of hype around himself after two big seasons with Flowers. He will undoubtedly start to see some serious recruitment as his stock quickly rises after each performance. Do-it-all type of forward that can make plays from the post, facing up, or catching it out on the wing and creating from outside. Will have to work on his body and conditioning to make a difference at the next level, but the skill is undeniable while watching the wing play. Brandon inhabits legit guard skills with a 6’6″ forward build. Rebounds the ball and can outhustle/outmuscle anyone down low to get a rebound or make a strong finish. Relentless offensively and can abuse his defender if they are not ready to stop Brandon from attacking. Sweet touch on the jumper and also inside the arc that makes him an unpredictable matchup. Big couple of seasons remaining for Brooks as he looks to have his name ringing in PG County by year’s end.

A finesse forward that has a combination of size, strength, and skill. Brooks is a nice size young man whose, entirety of his game is playing out on the perimeter and making plays with the dribble. He’s a quality scorer from all levels and can create for himself and others off the bounce. Although he’s shown a lot of offensive appeal, Brooks is also a useful rebounder when engaged with clear upside as a defender. A trending prospect that has the potential to be a college level prospect if he continues to work on his body. And play with energy and intensity!

-Brooks has made probably the biggest jump in the rankings that I’ve seen during my time with Prep Hoops. The skilled W/F prospect popped onto our radar midway through last year and probably should’ve been slotted higher, but his development even from the end of the season has been very encouraging. Brooks has great size and uses a powerful frame to bully his way to spots in the halfcourt. Despite the size, he’s a really skilled passer and shooter that is able to rumble his way through much tighter spaces than you would expect on his way to the rim due to a nimble set of feet and skilled hands. Like the strides that he has made with his feel, choosing to not drive through crowded areas and use his slashing gravity to create for others from a standstill or off the bounce. Improvements to his conditioning as improved his back foot burst on drives as well as his ability so slide with his matchup better on the defensive end of the floor. Should have a big time year playing for his father in PG County.

-Really fun prospect to watch because of how many areas he impacts the game in at both ends of the floor. Brooks’ skill level for a W/F tweener is really intriguing. He serves as a passing hub from both the elbows and the low post, with an advanced handle that allows him to find guys off the bounce as well. He’s got soft touch around the rim, uses his brawn effectively to carve out space around the rim to score, and is nimble enough to slice through small gaps in the defense. His range extends past the three point line and he’s got a pretty fluid shooting motion– even on pull-up 3’s. Definitely a guy that D1s should be tracking.
