In my AAU team preview of this Premier team, I added the sentiment about Rucker being a guy who can impact a game far beyond the box score. He did just that over the four-game showing and is a guy who I think will demand his share of minutes, especially in winning time. Whether it was making good reads as a cutter as actions played out, keeping the ball alive with tip-outs or using his active hands defensively to both shooters and cause deflections, you felt Rucker’s contributions in a positive way. When he wasn’t scoring around the rim in transition, Rucker was spotting up in the corners where his improved range was on display.

-It’s been a pleasure seeing the development from Rucker even just from the end of last season to today as an intriguing wing prospect. He has really smoothened out his movement skills as a prospect that is starting to take his man off the bounce with much more frequency while also showing an ability to slide those puppies at the other end of the floor in ball screen coverages. Rucker should serve as an impactful cutter in the halfcourt that can finish plays above the rim but also has finesse finishes in his bag with up n under’s, runners, and floaters. If he can add weight to his frame and extend his range to beyond the three point line– I think his recruitment will take off and he should be an X factor for the Knights this season.

-Rucker looked great in new threads versus a really good PGCA team. He was effectively taking his matchup off the bounce, scored well from the midrange and the paint, and used his athleticism to effect the game as a roving free safety type on the defensive end of the floor. Rucker had a great stretch where he hit a C+S look from 18′, collected back to back steals before throwing down a 2-handed dunk at the other end, and blocked a wing 3 after closing out from the paint. His blend of size, versatility, and athleticism makes him an intriguing prospect to track in 2027.

-Love the range in his skillset as a W/F tweener that can do a lot with the ball 18′ and in. Rucker creates space for himself well with a jab off the catch at the top of the key and is efficient with his dribble when attacking the paint. The athleticism has improved quite a bit as he is finishing well above the rim with lobs or off of backdoor cuts.

-The Riverdale sophomore has impressed our scouts with his development into a dependable W/F prospect that can impact the game in several areas. Rucker has grown several inches taller, is filling his frame out nicely, can put it on the floor, can knock down open looks, and is an effective roll target with good hands and a soft touch in the paint. His athleticism and hip mobility have improved to give him some long term upside as a defensive wing that can scale down to defend guards either full time or on switches. Will be interesting to see how much further he can push his ceiling as a leaper and shot-maker, but there’s real upside here as a 3+D wing prospect that can fill up the stat sheet for a team.

Rucker is a rangy swingman who showed some promise with his blend of skill and physical intangibles. He showed to be very comfortable motoring to spots with the ball in his hands. He used his length to be active on the defensive and was able to cover ground easily. Rucker was a frequent customer at the foul line. He is a prospect who is starting to climb to ladder being a mainstay in the DMV.

Seemingly played multiple positions for Riverdale on the court every time I see him play. He would start on the perimeter then later he’d be coming off the baseline using his athleticism to get to the cup. Has good hops and nice jumper needs consistency. Has a feel for getting to the line at a consistent rate.

Very active player. Seems to always find himself near the ball making a play on offense and defense both. Very good timing and rebounding instincts with a quick jump that helps him outwork others for the ball. Will score points from hitting the glass and cutting to the basket on the offensive end. Doesn’t need offense ran through him to be an impactful player but has the ability to put the ball down and create baskets for himself from time to time. Always brings defensive tenacity to the floor.

-It’s starting to come together for Rucker in a new role with a new team, flashing some inside-out potential as a scorer more and more each time that I see him. A capable playmaker thanks to an improved handle, Rucker collected several hockey assists in the halfcourt after snagging an offensive board– spurning putbacks in traffic to find the right shot for his team. His activity defensively has improved as he had three stocks on the day, highlighted by a nice dig to force the turnover off his opponent’s leg at a key juncture late in the 1H. The improved movement skills/athleticism shown through on a two handed dunk in transition and a weak side 2-handed shot block late in the 2H. Would like to see what the perimeter jumper looks like these days, but the shooting form on his FT attempts looked fluid
