Oladeji Olorungbohunmi
About Oladeji
Expert Analysis
William Lloyd III | Prep Hoops Scout
Deji has been a force for PGCA all season, and he’s been one of the best paint presences I’ve watched this year. He owns the glass on both ends and gives his team extra possessions consistently. His physicality stands out, and he finishes strong under the rim. Deji seeks out contact and plays through it well, whether shielding off the defense with his fierce drives to the rim or finding space under the rim to catch and finish. He plays the game with an edge that lifts his team, especially when momentum needs to shift. Oladeji’s stock has been rising due to his level of play, and been consistent and he positively impacts the team every night.

13p 2r 1a 3s vs Springdale
-First time seeing Olorungbohunmi in new threads with the Flyers and he looked good at both ends of the floor. He has improved his handle to create for himself and others off the bounce, got to the rim at will, and was valuable defensively for PGCA against a Springdale starting lineup that features three different point guards. He hit a C+S 3 from the wing to start things off, raced back in transition to force a stop at the rim on several occasions, hit his matchup with the double crossover before drawing the contact and hitting the extension layup with the left hand late in the game for a key and1 bucket. There’s an intriguing skillbase to work with here, it will be pivotal for him to choose the right AAU situation this summer for not only the exposure opportunities but for his development as a prospect.

Olorungbohunmi has no issues passing the eye-test as the 6-foot-4 southpaw guard/wing brings a strong, chiseled frame to the table. PGCA has pulled off some impressive victories this season against some marquee teams in the DMV. Heading into the year, it was assumed that much of the offense would revolve around

, but given Mundey’s decision to enroll at Texas A&M early, it left a massive void that Olorungbohunmi and others have stepped into nicely. He brings a good blend of scoring as a downhill threat who can throw down poster dunks with his strong hand or let it fly from deep with fluid, compact mechanics. The physicality that he brings can be seen initiating contact on drives or his ability guard up a position or two without posing as a mismatch.

-The pieces are starting to come together for Olorungbohunmi as a 3+D wing that can guard 1-3 and some 4s at the HS level. A strong, physical defender that can chest up guards on drives or defend in the post against forwards– I really like the lefty’s upside as his jumper continues to smoothen out and look consistent. 6 stocks in 2 games and several highlight reel leaps to block shots off the backboard show his upside as a defensive-minded wing that does all of the little things for this Cadets group.

Olorungbohunmi has been one of the most unheralded and important pieces in SJC’s magical run to third place in the regular season. He provides physical defense that can guard both forwards as well as perimeter players to give SJC more lineup flexibility. The skillset offensively continues to grow but he already serves as an effective rebounder and cutter as well as a play-finisher around the rim
