Toughest Sectional - Sectional 11 @ Plainfield High School

Probably the most anticipated preset matchup in the state will take place in Sectional 11 at Plainfield High School as the host Quakers take on Pike on Friday night. Pike, ranked #2 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Super Poll, enters Sectional play at 21-3 while #6 Plainfield will likely be 22-2. Meanwhile, #12 Ben Davis awaits the winner of Avon and Brownsburg. Last season, Brownsburg made a surprising run through the Sectional field. Ben Davis certainly got the best draw not only getting the bye but avoiding Plainfield or Pike until the championship game. The Quakers and Red Devils are undefeated against the field, but have not played each other. Both teams are legitimately capable of winning a state championship, but someone will be going home on Friday night.

Under-the-Radar Sectional - Sectional 13 @ Martinsville High School

Sectional 9 and Sectional 10 were both considered, but Sectional 13 is probably more truly up for grabs than those two. Terre Haute North, winners of 18 straight, certainly deserve to be considered the favorite on paper. The Patriots, who finish the regular season on Friday against a very good Evansville North team, are 20-3 overall and ranked #10 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Super Poll. However, both Bloomington North and Bloomington South will be contenders here in Sectional 13 as well. Bloomington South is actually 4-0 against the field having knocked off Terre Haute North 71-68 in overtime back on December 19th. They also beat Bloomington North, a game I was at, 50-43 on January 12th. Bloomington North lost 65-46 at Terre Haute North, but certainly is talented enough to be dangerous. They are 14-6 on the season while South is 17-5. Martinsville will play Bloomington South on Tuesday night with the winner advancing to play Terre Haute South. That certainly gives Bloomington South the easiest path. Bloomington North faces Terre Haute North on Friday night.
