There are few, if any, teams in the state of Indiana that are as hot as Terre Haute North right now. The Patriots backed up their big win over Plainfield with a 79-61 win at Decatur Central on Saturday afternoon. Hammond, an athletic, physical junior wing, led the way with 23 points in the game. Terre Haute North’s balanced scoring attack, with several different guys capable of scoring 20+, has been a big part of their 14-game winning streak. Hammond was the one to step up and lead the charge on Saturday.

Terre Haute North used a wild 25-0 run to pull away from Cloverdale after trailing 18-11 late in the first quarter. Hammond, one of the most athletically and physically gifted wings in Indiana’s Class of 2027, was a big part of that run. He went on to finish with 22 points to lead all scorers in the Patriots 75-52 victory.

Hammond is a well-built scoring guard who plays a physical brand of basketball whenever he steps foot onto the floor. He has the ability get a bucket in a matter of seconds. He has a chiseled frame which allows him to take advantage of smaller defenders. He also showed he could alter shots with his length. Hammond finds all the right spots to be at on the floor for rebounds. He should see a ton of traction at the D2 and NAIA level.

One of the most aggressive slashers from the weekend was Blake Hammond. The 6’4 wing is an explosive finisher who also has the strength to play through contact on his way to the rim. He has an impressive build as a junior-to-be, and once he had an edge to the rim, he was going to pin his man on the shoulder before exploding to finish. Mixed in a couple of jumpers as well against Davis Brothers Elite , but was at his best finding ways to get to the basket.

One of the more productive guys I feel like I saw on the day came from Terre Haute North and was 2027 wing Blake Hammond. Always been a fan of Hammond from the times I have watched him but in the game I watched the Patriots vs Mt. Vernon-Fortville, I felt he was extremely productive on the offensive end and showed flashes of being a solid two-way player. Hammond was very good in transition coming down the lane off the ball and also made some really good passes to the cutter. Terre Haute North has a team that could make a deep run come the postseason and based off what I have seen at Charlie Hughes, Hammond will be a guy that can help lead them.

Hammond came through with the game-winner in sudden death double overtime for Indiana Elite Team Indiana 16u in their victory over TNBA – Premier 16u. The 6’4″ physical wing used his strength to power his way to the basket off of the dribble and finish a tough shot through contact to end it. He finished with 16 points in the game to share the team-lead. This Terre Haute North High School product checks all of the boxes physically and athletically.
