Loyd does a great job of distributing the ball for this Progeny UA Grind 17u team. He was the glue that held them together during an excellent 5-0 weekend at the Havoc in the Heartland which included a win over Progeny UAA. The Terre Haute North point guard is an excellent passer with a high basketball IQ that can also really shoot it from beyond the arc.

Loyd knocked in a game-winner in Progeny 16u’s Saturday morning when connecting on his four three-pointer of the game with about five seconds remaining to clinch the victory. He went on to shoot the ball well throughout the weekend at UA Rise Session I while also serving as one of the primary ball handlers and playmakers for his team. The Terre Haute North guard’s ability to facilitate from the point guard spot and shoot it at a high percentage when off of the ball is very impressive.

Without question, Mason Loyd Mason Loyd 6'0" | PG Terre Haute North | 2027 State IN was the best shooter I saw on Friday night at Havoc in the Heartland. He has some real confidence from behind the arc with a fast, consistent trigger on his outside shot. Pretty good size on the wing with the potential to grow a bit more. Tough defender, as well.

Look for Loyd to play a role in Terre Haute North’s backcourt this season. The Patriots won over 20 games last season, but graduated a good amount of production. Luckily, they have a strong core of young talent, including Loyd, to start replacing what they lost. He is a true point guard that you can trust with the ball in his hands.
