A monster performance from Brinager in front of a ton of Division II coaches, he will be an extremely hot commodity at that level and flashed the potential of why Division I programs will want to give him a look during the live periods this spring and summer. Looking confident on the ball, Brinager made a defender fall with a quick crossover move that ended in free throws when he got fouled at the rim. Knocking down some tough jumpers off pindown actions and isolation situations, Brinager was scoring the ball with a lot of confidence and found a major rhythm in the second half of the game. After having some up and down performances to open this summer, Brinager was as dominant as anybody on a court with multiple Division I targets and a top 50 nationally ranked prospect tonight.

Out of all the 2027’s I saw this weekend, Brinager was my top gun. His athletic mobility, motor, and size are what stuck out the most while playing against other talented teams through both days. There was a sequence in the second half of the first game on Saturday morning that he scored 7 points in under a minute. Easily finished with a double double. The motor does not stop. Scoring wise he will move off the ball to open spaces to retrieve and convert, is successful on reverse layups, went left off the bounce and faded away with a high arcer that splashed, and hit big time shots throughout. Uses length effectively on both ends. Stock will continue to rise.

Recently going over the 1,000 point mark for his career off a nasty step-back 3-pointer, Brinager has taken his offensive game to the next level this season. Leading his team to an unbeaten conference record so far this season, Southern is a major contender in Division VII Region 27 to win the region, their only two losses on the season are to top teams in Division V and Division VI from the east / southeast region. Expect Brinager to be a top target for scholarship programs this summer playing with Midwest Basketball Club on the MHC.

Making the move from Meigs back to his home school of Racine Southern, Brinager will be joining a team that went 9-1 in the TVC Hocking last season and could be one of the better teams in southeast Ohio next season. Brinager is a high motor wing who can be a primary scorer at the high school level or a high energy defender with his grassroots teams. Watching Brinager with both his high school and grassroots teams help you see different sides of his game and give a clear picture to the role he could play as a freshman as well as potential upside later in his college career.

Brinager was a player that I’d never seen before. People were pointing him out to me and I got to see first hand. The young man can play. He moves well and has a strong frame. Brinager showed ball skills and diversity in the way he could attack.

I thought Brinager held his own on a floor filled with Division I prospects thanks to his motor and energy. Flying around the court defensively, Brinager had a steal and was active as a help-side defender. Brinager also knocked down a time and space 3-pointer in the game I was at and looked comfortable against much more talented opposition than he sees during the high school season. Getting used to playing this top talent will help Brinager when he returns to Meigs and plays against local competition in June and during the winter.

received a majority of the headlines playing for his dad, Brinager’s jump from freshman to sophomore season was quite noticeable as well. A wing who plays with an extremely high motor, Brinager is switchable defensively and can guard multiple positions and skillsets. When you add in his effort levels on the glass and quick feet to avoid box outs and get extra possessions, Brinager is really good at the little things that help you win games. As a creator, Brinager doesn’t waste dribbles and attacks very directly to the basket. I’ll be looking for Brinager to continue to expand his game as a ball handler and perimeter shooter.
