Olentangy had a breakout season and won a district championship for the first time since 1991 thanks to a quality depth of talent across their roster. Walburn is another multi-sport athlete, a theme of this article as he plays baseball for the powerhouse Braves program as well. Walburn plays well off the catch offensively as he can knock down shots and attack closeouts. Playing well within an offensive system, Walburn has an impressive feel for the game and should slide in well at the small college level offensively early in his career.

A dominant performance by Midwest Pumas CC in the game I caught, Walburn had like four steals in five possessions late in the first half on Saturday afternoon. With quick hands and the right understanding of where to be as a helpside defender, the ball seemed to find Walburn as his steals usually led to runout layups for his team. I liked the pace Walburn played with when the ball was in his hands as well, not forcing the issue and slowing down when necessary to read the defense and find the open man. Olentangy had a breakthrough season last year and with guys like Walburn coming back they should be just as tough next season as well.

A 3 or 4 man that can get down hill in a hurry in attack mode. Has the tenacity to go through contact and finish plays or draw fouls and get to stripe. Pushes the ball in transition and makes smart reads to drive and kick once drawing extra defenders. Moves with a purpose off the ball offensively. Has a strong blend of perimeter and interior tools to utilize. Overall will stretch the floor and present a strong presence on both sides of the ball.

Walbrun is a pure ATHLETE but he lets the game come to him. Ty is the most consistent shooter on his squad. In school ball, Ty averaged around 15-16 ppg on only 7 shots. He does not over shoot, is smart/disciplined, and is super responsive to coaching.

Elite three-point shooter. He’s a set shooter and the only question: Will he get open? Once Walburn has a little bit of space, you can count the bucket. Solid frame that he used to chest defenders and keep them out of the paint.
