Michael Schneiderman | Prep Hoops Scout
One of the more elite combo guards I saw this weekend. Has scoring versatility while going off the dribble or on catch and shoot opportunities. Hit big time shots in moments when team needed them the most. Shows confidence and rhythm as a 3 level scorer. Created with hesitations, change of pace, spin moves, and tough runners in traffic. Can really pour it on even under zero gap pressure. A scoring guard with a true gamer’s mentality who can handle or fill the 2 slot depending what your program needs.

To put it simply, Bruns is a flat-out bucket on the court. Able to shoot over defenders, get to his spots and knock down pull-ups, hit spot-up looks around the arc or drive to the rim and score, Bruns can dish out buckets in a variety of ways. That level of scoring and diverse skillset will make him popular among regional college programs. Bruns even had a blocked shot from behind a driver on Saturday, as defensive impact is something I want to see from him more often this summer. Talented player who should see his recruitment really start to take shape from now through July.

Another program with multiple players making their debut in our 2027 rankings this update, Olentangy Berlin is a program on the rise. With a strong end to their season, Olentangy Berlin could tie or break the current school record of 15 wins as they currently sit at 11 wins with six regular season games left plus a postseason run. Bruns is having a breakout junior season as the 6’2 wing guard is the definition of a bucket. Bruns can catch fire quickly and has a spring in his step as a downhill slasher. Expect Olentangy Berlin to be even better next season with a majority of their production coming from juniors and sophomores.

A flat out bucket from the guard position, Bruns can fill it up in a hurry on a young Olentangy Berlin squad that continues to improve. Bruns hit a couple deep shots off the catch, a confident shooter with his feet set. Also able to find buckets, Bruns scored off a BLOB, had an acrobatic putback layup and attacked a closeout for a scoop layup. Name to watch as a potential breakout candidate as a senior, Bruns should continue to gain buzz if he plays at a high level the rest of this high school season.
