The last prospect from this article comes out of Mason high school. Wortham was one of the more impressive guards in the Midwest Fall League in Cincinnati and does a nice job of using his quick first step to get to the basket. Playing a heavy role on a Mason team that is looking to surprise some folks in the GMC, Wortham will have the opportunity to show off his athleticism in a conference filled with athletic guards. Look for Wortham to increase his scoring averages this season as he continues to get comfortable under a new coach.

The second consecutive week Wortham is spotlighted as a standout performer, the Mason guard was once again doing his thing on Sunday morning. Wortham is tough to keep in front at the point of attack and is aggressive attacking downhill. One of the better vertical athletes in the fall league, Wortham can finish above the rim and got sent to the foul line a couple times as defenders had to foul him to prevent him from scoring in the paint. Wortham’s best play of the day came off a spin move that led to an and-1 finish at the rim.

This guard brings a smooth handle and good pace to the floor. He controlled the ball well and knew when to attack or set up teammates. He is a very willing passer. He made the next pass and was ready to get his teammates involved. He was comfortable creating off the dribble and showed the ability to score from multiple spots. Defensively, he competed and used his quickness to stay in front of his matchup.

One of the top players in the fall league, Wortham has impressive quick twitch athletic ability and was showing it off in transition. Wortham can finish above the rim with some layups where he was hanging in the air and avoiding rim protectors. I liked that Wortham showed the ability to finish with either hand at the rim, a key skill for an athletic guard that wants to get downhill. Talented athlete who is becoming a tough guard to stop when he’s attacking downhill.

Wortham really stood out in both of the games I watched on Sunday, making key plays for his team to win. For starters, he knocked down a ton of 3-point shots for his team and from all over the court. Whether it was on the wing, the top of the key or in transition, Wortham was making it rain. The high arcing shot found the bottom of the net more often than not. I also was impressed with a couple moves Wortham made with his left hand attacking off the dribble and finishing at the basket. I would name Wortham gold bracket MVP of Sunday as he helped his team win the championship.
