Class 4A Stars to Watch (Part 1)
The top ranked player in the 2025 class, McCaffery just keeps getting better. He’s coming off a sophomore season in which he averaged 16.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 3.9 blocks, showing his ability to protect the rim and stretch the floor. At 6-8/6-9, he has great size and a feathery stroke with range well beyond the 3-point line, and he’s an instinctual defender who rotates well and protects the bucket. His ball-handling has improved in a major way over the last year, and when you pair that with his footwork and touch on the block, his size and ability to shoot it, and his defensive prowess, you have a nationally ranked prospect.

Week One Review: Top 2025s Tony Saw
Another Valley junior who looked much more confident in his jumper, Stinson was dominant offensively against Dowling, finishing with 26 points on 10-19 shooting (2-5 3P), 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. He has great footwork and uses his big, physical frame to power through contact around the rim. He’s in complete control of the game on the offensive end, directing his teammates through their sets, getting his teammates involved, and knowing when he needs to take over the game as a scorer.

Class 4A Stars to Watch (Part 2)
Kern was dominant as a sophomore, averaging 19.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks a game on 53-42-85 shooting splits. At 6-8 and with mobility, he’s a prototypical modern big man who can stretch the floor, protect the rim, and finish around the bucket. He’s continuing to add some strength to his frame, filling out his body, which is allowing him to finish at a more efficient rate in the paint. His ability to switch on the defensive end and shoot it from deep will make him a valued prospect.

Class 4A Stars to Watch (Part 1)
Robinson may be the best athlete in the state, a dominant football player and a standout on the hardwood as well, as anyone who watched Valley at the state tournament last year could see. He’s an explosive athlete who finishes above the rim with ease despite being listed at 5-10/5-11, and his speed is a major asset on both ends of the floor. He averaged 12.6 pints, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals a game as a sophomore. He missed the football season with a shoulder injury, and we aren’t sure if he will be healthy for basketball season, but if he is, it’s hard to see anyone dethroning the Tigers.

Week One Review: Top 2025s Tony Saw
Jirak was reportedly battling the flu, according to the CISN broadcast, which limited him a bit, but he was still productive in limited minutes off the bench, finishing with 8 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks. A mobile big man who covers a ton of ground on the defensive end and recovers well to protect the rim, he’s a switchable defender who provides a ton of value on that end of the floor. His footwork on post touches is smooth and his touch around the rim is good.
