About Manasse
Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
An athletic 6-7 big man who runs the floor hard, protects the rim, and controls the glass on both ends of the floor, Kasongo-Malu is still a fairly raw basketball player, which should make his production – 10.5 points, 8.6 rebounds on 65.6% shooting – very intriguing for college coaches. He has good hands and is a bouncy athlete with a great second jump that he uses to not only compete on the glass, but also protect the rim defensively.

has had over the past 4 years is nothing short of incredible. In middle school he wasn’t the tallest or most coordinated kid but that didn’t change the fact that he was willing to work harder than everyone else. When you account for that and the fact that he grew to be 6’7, you start to understand how he has become what he is. Malu can bully smaller players next to the rim, he can work from the mid-post in, or he can knock down a shot from behind the three point line if he has time to set himself. This is going to be a prospect that continues to shine on both the hardwood, as well as the football field over this next year. He is a multi-sport athlete that most recently received an offer to compete with the Cornhuskers following his high school career on the turf. If he stays locked in, he is going to have options to compete doing either sport down the line. He just needs to stay locked in.

Kasongo barely played for East last season, but he’s an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on starting this season for the Black Raiders. He’s an athletic, bouncy 6-6 forward who finishes above the rim, rebounds well, and is a good shot blocker.

Kasongo was a new name for me, but he jumped out immediately, blocking shots on each of the first two possessions, then quickly following that up with a strong baseline drive into a reverse layup and then a corner 3 off the catch. He’s a long, bouncy athlete who has a knack for blocking shots and he showed some ability on the offensive end, creating shots for himself and his teammates. A strong all-around showing from the sophomore.
