Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
Lieurance is another big-time scorer, the leading scorer in school history at Cascade, a program that has had a number of really talented players pass through over the years. He’s one of the most deadly shooters in the state, making everything look effortless on the offensive end of the floor with his smooth stroke, unlimited range, and the fact that he doesn’t ever force up a shot. In addition to being a high-level basketball player, he’s also a really smart kid, with a 3.98 GPA, which will make him even more intriguing for college programs. I think he’s the type of player who could see his stock skyrocket if he wanted to spend a year or two at a JuCo, but he could also be a really nice player at a Division II or NAIA-level program.

When Lieurance gets it rolling, there are few players in the state who are more fun to watch. He’s an elite shooter who doesn’t force anything, and he moves exceptionally well without the ball in his hands, finding the smallest spaces in the defense to get to his shot. He’s a pure shooter with picturesque form from 3-point range, and he’s capable of dropping 35 on you on any given night. He averaged 22.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.1 steals a game as a junior for the Cougars on 53-39-77 splits.

Lieurance was his usual dominant self on Saturday, shooting the ball at a ridiculously high clip off both the dribble and the catch. He’s one of the best pure shooters I’ve seen in my 11 years at PHIA, almost to the point where you’re surprised if he doesn’t make a shot. A big part of that efficiency is the fact that he simply doesn’t take bad shots. He moves incredibly well without the ball in his hands, finding open spots in the defense to get his shot off. He has improved as a ball-handler and shot creator, and looked to be more aggressive in playing downhill and using the threat of his jumper to attack the rim hard for finishes. He’s a player who can help a Division II team.

We know that Lieurance can absolutely put the ball in the bucket, witnessing 35 and 47-point outbursts in person last season. He’s a pure shooter who is among the best in the state when he has his feet set. I’m looking forward to seeing if the shooting and playmaking off the dribble has continued to improve, because that’s the next step in his development. Knowing how hard he works on his craft, I’m sure they have and that he’ll put together a great showing on Saturday.

Few players in the state are as explosive as Lieurance, a skilled guard who can explode for 35+ points on any given night. He’s a high-level shooter, especially off the catch, and he does a great job moving without the ball in his hands to find open spaces in the defense to get his shot off. He has a pure stroke with unlimited range, doesn’t force anything, and has really developed over the last 12-18 months as a ball-handler and shot creator, both for himself and his teammates. He averaged 22.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.1 steals per game on 53-39-77 shooting splits as a junior.
