Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
The top returning scorer in the state, Powell poured in 27.2 points per game for the Irish last season, and he did so in a variety of ways. He can create off the dribble going in either direction, getting to the bucket or the free-throw line routinely. He shoots it well from 3-point range both off the dribble and the catch, and he does a great job using his defense to spark his offense. He averaged 27.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 3.6 steals a game on 49-38-71 shooting splits.

A quick 6-0 guard who loves to play downhill and attack the rim, Powell is coming off a really good sophomore year for the Irish in which he averaged 17.5 points and 2.9 assists a game. He’s able to put constant pressure on opposing defenses with his ability to blow by his defender and either score or find open teammates. He’s also a good on-ball defender who moves his feet well and has quick hands.
