He holds his ground well on the block, never giving up any space, and he really makes opposing players work hard to score against him in the paint. He rebounds well on both ends of the floor, making good, hard contact on his boxouts and corralling rebounds with his soft hands.

A physical power forward who powers through contact for buckets, Schmeltzer is a high-energy player who really competes hard on the glass on both ends of the floor. He has great hands, a non-stop motor, and he uses his big, physical frame to his advantage on both ends of the floor, bullying opposing players. He carves out space well, using his strength to seal defenders. He showed a little bit of ability off the dribble as well, catching at the top of the key, putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim for a nice finish.
