Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
Helmers is a bouncy, athletic guard who loves to put constant pressure on the rim with his ability to attack off the dribble. He’s not a big-time shooting threat from 3-point range, but he’s pretty strong on the mid-range area, stopping on a dime and elevating into his lefty jumper. He uses his bounce to compete on the glass on both ends of the floor, one of the better rebounding guards in the state. He averaged 20.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 2.7 steals per game as a junior for the Bulldogs.

A quick guard with a great first step that he uses to blow by defenders and get to the bucket, Helmers averaged 20.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game as a junior for the Bulldogs. A lefty who can absorb contact around the rim and finish through it, he’s also skilled in the mid-range area, getting to his spots well and knocking down 15-footers with regularity. If he’s able to add some consistency to his 3-point range, watch out.
