Van Kauwenberg is leading candidate to win the Player of the Year honors in the FVA ... Jensen has several NCAA Division I scholarship offers, including Marquette and Toledo ... Graff is one of the more improved seniors in the state ... Roehrig and McMullen are both outstanding three-point shooters ... Ghosts lack depth, but love to play up-tempo and put up points ... Kaukauna is averaging 79.8 ppg.

Kimberly
Coach: Josh Hopfensperger, interim coach
Record at School: 3-1
2024-25 Record: 12-13
Fox Valley Association Record: 8-10 (Seventh place)
Number of Regional Championships: 38
Results vs. Kaukauna: Kimberly lost both FVA games, 82-63 on Jan. 14 in Kaukauna and 98-79 on Feb. 21 in Kimberly.
Top Players:
[player_tooltip player_id='2386419' first='Landen' last='VanOfferen'] (6-4, Sr., 17.0 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='1537928' first='Mikey' last='Wildes'] (6-3, Sr., 13.0 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2140869' first='Alex' last='Krause'] (6-4, Soph., 10.6 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2674206' first='Aaron' last='Cullen'] (6-0, Sr., 8.1 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2224502' first='Ben' last='Grabner'] (6-9, Sr., 7.9 ppg)
Skinny: Papermakers won a pair of road games at the regional level, beating Holmen 80-60 and Appleton North 73-68 ... Interim coach Josh Hopfensperger took over the coaching duties for Kimberly on Feb. 22 after former coach Freddie Owens resigned ... Van Offeren has had an outstanding season and is the go-to player for Kimberly, which actually matches up pretty well with Kimberly across the baseline.

Prediction: Kaukauna boasts the NCAA Division I players in Van Kauwenberg and Jensen, and that figures to be the difference. But this is an intense rivalry and odd things often happen in the playoffs. Kaukauna 79, Kimberly 55

Eau Claire Memorial
Coach: Chad Brieske, 8th year
Record at School: 126-65
2024-25 Record: 21-4
Big Rivers Conference Record: 14-0 (First place)
Number of Regional Championships: 27
Results vs. Marshfield: Lost 80-54 in Marshfield on Feb. 22.
Top Players:
[player_tooltip player_id='1481178' first='Cooper' last='Jesperson'] (6-4, Sr., 19.3 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2022565' first='Wesley' last='Mboga'] (6-4, Sr., 15.0 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='1962213' first='Julius' last='Clark'] (5-11, Sr., 8.4 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2677211' first='Bryce' last='Hedtke'] (6-2, Sr., 6.4 ppg)
Tay Ferguson (6-5, Sr., 5.1 ppg)
Skinny: Eau Claire Memorial went undefeated in league play and then cruised to regional wins over Eau Claire North and Wausau West ... Jesperson is a four-year varsity performer who has scored more than 1,300 career points ... Mboga can play inside and outside while providing the Old Abes with a good deal of physicality and athleticism ... Clark is a pesky defender who competes with passion the ability to push the ball in transition ... Hedtke is a skilled backcourt performer who can defend and score ... Old Abes allow just 50.1 points per game.

Marshfield
Coach: Chris Fischer, 5th year
Record at School: 84-39
2024-25 Record: 20-6
Wisconsin Valley Conference Record: 12-0 (First place)
Number of Regional Championships: 17
Results vs. Eau Claire Memorial: Won 80-54 in Marshfield on Feb. 22.
Top Players:
[player_tooltip player_id='1244808' first='Brooks' last='Hinson'] (6-2, Sr., 16.9 ppg, Northern Michigan recruit)
[player_tooltip player_id='1973149' first='Chris' last='Pohl'] (6-7, Jr., 13.2 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2426092' first='Landon' last='Lee'] (5-11, Sr., 13.0 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2381688' first='Valin' last='Ramberg'] (6-7, Jr., 9.0 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2425973' first='Joey' last='Ketterer'] (6-2, Sr., 7.6 ppg)
Skinny: Marshfield has won four straight league titles and owns a 47-1 record against conference foes during that time period ... Hinson is a three-time first-team all-league performer and two-time Player of the Year in the WVC ... Pohl is one of the higher ranked juniors in the state and can hurt teams from the perimeter and in the paint ... Ramberg is one of the more improved class of 2026 players in the state ... Lee joined Hinson on the first-team all-league team.

Prediction: Marshfield jumped on Eau Claire Memorial early during its Saturday afternoon victory over the Old Abes. There is a bit more riding on this game and Brieske figures to make some adjustments for the rematch. Two very good teams and two league champions. Marshfield 64, Eau Claire Memorial 57

SECTIONAL 2

Thursday's Semifinals
No. 1 seed De Pere (25-1) vs. No. 5 seed Sheboygan North (19-7) at Manitowoc Lincoln
No. 3 seed Fond du Lac (19-7) vs. No. 7 seed Oshkosh North (17-9) at Oshkosh West

De Pere
Coach: Brian Winchester, 18th year
Record at School: 356-99
2024-25 Record: 25-1
Fox River Classic Record: 18-0 (First place)
Number of Regional Championships: 23
Results vs. Sheboygan North: De Pere won both FRCC games, 70-56 on Dec. 17 in Sheboygan and 74-45 on Jan. 30 in De Pere.
Top Players:
[player_tooltip player_id='1351717' first='Zach' last='Kinziger'] (6-3, Sr., 24.3 ppg, Wisconsin commit)
[player_tooltip player_id='1908410' first='Pryce' last='Gregoire'] (6-6, Sr., 16.3 ppg, Northern Michigan commit)
[player_tooltip player_id='1428204' first='Roan' last='Demovsky'] (6-1, Sr., 11.4 ppg, Eau Claire commit)
[player_tooltip player_id='2400106' first='Connor' last='Hutjens'] (6-2, Sr., 7.1 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2576048' first='Isaac' last='Herlache'] (6-1, Jr., 3.7 ppg)
Skinny: Redbirds won their fourth consecutive title in the Fox River Classic Conference and own a 58-game winning streak within league play ... Lone loss on the season came in December against Wisconsin Lutheran ... Kinziger was voted Player of the Year in the league while Gregoire was a first-team pick and Demovsky a second-team selection ... Demovsky also was selected as the league's defensive Player of the Year ... De Pere won the Division 1 state title in 2023 and lost in the sectional finals a year ago.

Sheboygan North
Coach: Eric Worth, 9th year
Record at School: 123-83
2024-25 Record: 19-7
Fox River Classic Record: 12-6 (Tied for third place with Ashwaubenon)
Number of Regional Championships: 28
Results vs. Sheboygan North: De Pere won both FRCC games, 70-56 on Dec. 17 in Sheboygan and 74-45 on Jan. 30 in De Pere.
Top Players:
[player_tooltip player_id='1853686' first='Cale' last='Buboltz'] (6-2, Sr., 16.1 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2272014' first='Logan' last='Steffensmeier'] (6-7, Sr., 14.8 ppg, Edgewood recruit)
Bryce Ten Pas (6-1, Sr., 8.9 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2391090' first='Blake' last='Buhr'] (6-5, Jr., 8.2 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2403281' first='Max' last='Olsen'] (6-3, Sr., 5.6 ppg)
Skinny: Sheboygan North turned back Sussex Hamilton in the regional semifinals before traveling to Pewaukee to earning a 67-64 victory in the regional finals ... Steffensmeier was voted first-team all-FRCC and Buboltz picked up second-team honors ... Steffensmeier also earned a spot on the league all-defensive squad ... The Golden Raiders average 72.7 ppg while allowing 61.6 ppg.

Prediction: Sheboygan North won't be surprised by the quality of the De Pere squad after playing them twice during the regular season. Still, the Redbirds had little trouble beating the Golden Raiders in both league outings and have won the last 10 meetings between the two schools. De Pere 87, Sheboygan North 63

Fond du Lac
Coach: Nick Ford, 6th year
Record at School: 78-74
2024-25 Record: 19-7
Fox Valley Association Record: 14-4 (Second place)
Number of Regional Championships: 18
Results vs. Oshkosh North: Beat Oshkosh North 75-68 on Jan. 14 in Oshkosh, lost to Oshkosh North 85-80 on Feb. 20 in Fond du Lac.
Top Players:
[player_tooltip player_id='2392418' first='Marvin' last='Haslett III'] (5-10, Sr., 17.0 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='1485496' first='Eli' last='Zimmerman'] (5-10, Sr., 13.3 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2402482' first='Travion' last='Pate'] (6-2, Sr., 12.2 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2784458' first='Zavion' last='Davis'] (6-3, Soph., 9.0 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2402477' first='Eli' last='Braatz'] (6-3, Sr., 8.0 ppg)
Skinny: Fond du Lac is a versatile offensive team as the Cardinals can play fast and in transition or work the ball in the half court ... Haslett is a good perimeter shooter and has a very quick first step on drives to the basket ... Zimmerman is a quality point guard with four year of varsity experience ... Pate and Braatz play bigger than their heights and can mix things up under the glass ... Davis is a sweet-shooting wing prospect in the class of 2027 ... The Cardinals rely heavily on a stingy defense that allows just 59.4 ppg.

Oshkosh North
Coach: Brad Weber, 8th year
Record at School: 134-73
2024-25 Record: 17-9
Fox Valley Association Record: 11-7 (Tied for fourth place with Hortonville)
Number of Regional Championships: 24
Results vs. Fond du Lac: Lost to Fond du Lac 75-68 on Jan. 14 in Oshkosh, beat Fond du Lac 85-80 on Feb. 20 in Fond du Lac.
Top Players:
[player_tooltip player_id='1282617' first='Xzavion' last='Mitchell'] (6-7, Sr., 35.2 ppg, Iowa State recruit)
[player_tooltip player_id='1973116' first='Bryce' last='Ott'] (6-7, Jr., 12.2 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2397160' first='Stefan' last='Stojilovic'] (6-7, Sr., 7.8 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2392717' first='Jonathan' last='Coleman'] (6-0, Sr., 6.2 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2784342' first='Jackson' last='Anderson'] (6-0, Jr., 5.4 ppg)
Skinny: Ott missed 17 games while recovering from a football injury ... Since his return, the Spartans have gone 8-1 ... Mitchell is one of the top scorers in the state and a finalist for the Mr. Basketball award ... Mitchell has scored more than 2,700 career points, making him the all-time top scorer in the Fox Valley Association ... Stolijovic is a good outside shooter while Coleman and Anderson handle the bulk of the ball-handling duties while also guarding on the perimeter.

Prediction: Oshkosh North beat Fond du Lac with Ott in the lineup a few weeks ago as the Cardinals had a hard time coping with the versatile scoring ability of Mitchell, who scored 40 points in the 75-70 victory. If Fond du Lac gets hot from outside the arc, the Cardinals can win the game. But that might require 10 or more made triples. Oshkosh North 78, Fond du Lac 71

SECTIONAL 3

Thursday's Semifinals
No. 1 seed Kettle Moraine (26-0) vs. No. 5 seed Sun Prairie East (20-6) at Mukwonago
No. 3 seed Verona (20-6) vs. No. 2 seed Waunakee (21-5) at DeForest

Kettle Moraine
Coach: Brian Richert, 2nd year
Record at School: 51-4
2024-25 Record: 26-0
Classic Eight Record: 16-0 (First place)
Number of Regional Championships: 12
Results vs. Sun Prairie East: Did not play.
Top Players:
[player_tooltip player_id='1611623' first='Roman' last='Thompson'] (6-5, Sr., 20.3 ppg, Eau Claire recruit)
[player_tooltip player_id='2606542' first='Zach' last='Froemming'] (6-4, Sr., 14.5 ppg, St. Norbert recruit)
[player_tooltip player_id='1544760' first='Ben' last='Bestor'] (6-1, Sr., 14.0 ppg)
Teig Kowalski (6-4, Sr., 8.5 ppg)
[player_tooltip player_id='2823199' first='Bryce' last='Bestor'] (6-3, Jr., 3.6 ppg)
Skinny: Thompson was chosen as the Player of the Year in the Classic Eight Conference and was joined on the first-team by Froemming ... The Cardinals beat Badger at the regional semifinal level before going on the road and toppling Madison Memorial 58-56 in the regional final ... Davis earned Player of the Year laurels in the league and was joined on the first team by Raimer ... Davis has scored more than 2,600 points during his four years of varsity basketball.

Prediction: This is a match-up of contrasting styles, to say the least. Kettle Moraine allows just 48.2 ppg while Sun Prairie East loves to play fast and is averaging 87.7 ppg. Sophomore Wesley Ducharme had a big regional for Waunakee, scoring 19 points against Madison West and 17 against Sun Prairie West.

Prediction: Verona has a some firepower on its side as Murphy and Williams can put up points in a hurry.
