Ja’Quan backed up his status as one of the top 2028 prospects in the state with a dominant showing on Saturday afternoon. The 6’4 guard is one of the most explosive athletes in the state, and showed off his bounce with a handful of dunks in the game I watched. Most impressive was his improved handle and added mid-range game from last season. His quickness at 6’4 allows him to get separation off the dribble from opposing wings, and from there can elevate and simply shoot over the top of them. Turner was connecting at a high percentage from the elbow area, and that allowed him to put up close to 30 points in the game I watched.
Turner brought versatile energy to Team 4, thriving as a tough downhill driver. His ability to slither through defenders and carve angles to the rim with either hand made him difficult to contain. Quick footwork and body control allowed him to consistently get lower than defenders, opening lanes to finish. Turner’s versatility and activity made him a key contributor throughout camp.
Oozing with potential, Turner is a skilled and athletic wing prospect. He gets good elevation on his jump shot and often finds the bottom of the net without touching the rim, thanks to his smooth pull-up jump shot that floats off his hands with good ball rotation. With a quick first step that often creates some separation from defenders, Turner can stop on a dime and rise up for his mid-range shots. He garnered honorable mention all-league recognition as a freshman in the Southeast Conference, coming off the bench for most of the season to average 9.0 points and 4.3 rebounds for an Oak Creek squad that went 20-7 under coach Eric Hollow. With increased strength and a locked-in mentality on defense, Turner could blossom as one of the top players in the Knights’ new conference, the Classic Eight.
Would fit the script as being both a rim runner as well as a rim rattler. A long athletic sized 4 man that gets down the floor in a hurry and plays with aggression. Hard nosed and has the size and athleticism that accompanies his game well. Rebounds it at a high point off misses. Stayed active around the glass for boards and is able to take it coast to coast with his dribbling capabilities. Saw team’s first game of the day and had 2 tomahawk dunks within minutes of each other and another one in the 2nd half. Converted on a mid range 10 foot basket as well.
