About Kinston
Expert Analysis
Mark Miller | Prep Hoops Scout
The progress Knueppel has made on the basketball court over the last 12 months has been outstanding. He has moved into the No. 1 spot in the state’s 2028 Prep Hoops Player Rankings thanks to his versatility, basketball instincts and ability to defend. Knueppel can play on the wing or in the post, can handle the ball and pass like a point guard, and has the shooting touch associated with the family name and older brothers Kon and Kager. He had eight points for Team Herro Friday night, but his passing, rebounding and decision making were keys to Team Herro ‘s victory.

First in our Prep Hoops rankings for 2028 from Wisconsin, Knueppel leads a deep Team Herro squad that has six of the top eight prospects from the state. With the last name Knueppel you know he’s going to be an impressive shooter and his high school Sophomore year stats don’t lie with 10.3 PPG 4.5 RPG and 3.5 APG on 47.3% from 3-point range and a 73.9% TS according to Wisconsin Lutheran’s twitter page. With his positional size, experience and shot-making ability, it’s surprising Knueppel hasn’t appeared higher on other national rankings.

Kinston, the #2 ranked prospect in Wisconsin in the sophomore class showed his diverse skill set offensively in this Woodland Conference matchup. The 6-foot-6 prospect has advanced footwork well beyond his years allowing him to score the basketball from the block and the midpost areas. Kinston is well put together with his strength and uses his body effectively when he catches in the flow of the Wisconsin Lutheran offense. Kinston had an impressive and-1 finish in the first half, hit a deep triple, and was able to stop on a dime on a mid-range pullup. Kinston, like a lot of players on their team, is so unselfish is constantly looking to make the extra pass or find a cutting team in their offense. He finished the game with six assists making the correct reads in transition and in the half court. Knueppel chipped in 14 points as well for the Vikings. Knueppel also competes with Team Herro , and it is only a matter of time that schools at the next level start noticing his advanced skill set this travel season.
