About Zach
Expert Analysis
Mark Miller | Prep Hoops Scout
A consistently productive player who makes smart decisions on both ends of the floor, Kinziger can score, but he also can defend, move the ball, rebound and get on the floor for a loose ball. He is known for his sweet shooting stroke and quick release, but Kinziger has added a strong drive game that includes a step back jumper in the lane. Those traits have helped De Pere to a 12-1 record against a very strong schedule. Kinziger is averaging 26.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists while playing alongside very talented teammates.

Zach certainly didn’t disappoint on the big stage last week, leading De Pere to wins over MAS and Tosa West behind a combined 59 points. The Wisconsin committed guard showed no fear competing in a packed gym, making smart decisions on the ball, working for high percentage looks, and competing defensively. You rarely see him making a mistake offensively, and his IQ and unselfishness is a big reason why this De Pere team operates with such efficiency on the offensive end. Always willing to pass up a good look to get a teammate an even better shot, Zach simply does what it takes to win.

Kinziger made three basket from outside the three-point line, but he also missed his share, thanks largely to the constant presence of different Wisconsin Lutheran defenders. The University of Wisconsin recruit, to be sure, is a marked man for every team De Pere plays in 2024-25. He still is crafty enough to get his shots off, and he did finish with 20 points against Wisconsin Lutheran despite getting banged in the nose and missing some time in the second half. Kinziger’s movement with and without the ball, his wide variety of moves with the ball in his hands, and his deft shooting skill make him a player who can get 30 or more points on any given night.

Confidence is always a very good trait to have on the basketball court and Kinziger plays with an abundance. Because of all the time he has spent in the gym over the years, the skills he has developed and his killer instinct, Kinziger competes with supreme trust in his ability to help De Pere win games. A four-year varsity performer for one of the state’s elite programs, Kinziger starts his senior season with 1,248 points. He averaged 19.9 points and 5.4 rebounds as a junior on a very talented and balanced De Pere squad that finished 26-2. His presence in the Redbirds’ lineup in 2024-25 is a big reason why many anticipate De Pere making a strong push to win the WIAA Division 1 state title next March.
