About Silas
Expert Analysis
Brett Pickarts | Prep Hoops Scout
Cohen is looking more and more like a top five 2028 player in the state of Wisconsin with his strong skillset, wingspan, and athleticism. Silas did not get as much run as he normally does due to the lopsided score, but the six-foot-two guard was effective on both sides of the basketball. Cohen uses his length to disrupt other teams by turning steals into easy buckets on the other end. Offensively, Cohen consistently can hit off the bounce threes, 1-2 pull-ups, and finish strong at the rim. In the most athletic play I saw of the day, Cohen shielded his defender on a spin move, and rose up to hammer down a nasty dunk. Toledo and UWGB have offered the rising prospect, but figures to gather more d1 interest as July picks up and Cohen heads into his junior season with the Redbirds.

The rise of Cohen continues this spring and summer. Earlier in the club season, the six-foot-two junior picked up a D1 offer from Toledo, and impressed so much today, that he added his second offer from UWGB later in the evening. Cohen has really sured up his consistency from downtown since the conclusion of the high school season, as he drained five threes from deep range in his team’s victory over Neenah. Silas in addition to his shooting, makes great decisions in PNR opportunities and attacks the basket with athleticism and efficiency. Cohen continues to be one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2028 class in the state of Wisconsin.

Cohen, who made a big jump up in the Prep Hoops Player Rankings for 2028 released earlier this week, continues to showcase the impressive gains in his game while also opening the eyes of scholarship programs for the next level. The bouncy, skilled and smart combination guard drilled four three-point shots, scored 21 points and made the correct reads out of perimeter double teams to help All-Wisconsin to its big win. Cohen handles the ball, sees the court, makes shots and loves to take on the challenge of competing against the best the state has to offer. A good rebounder who can push the ball in transition, Cohen made the game-winning basket in the tight contest with Team Herro . As he continues to add strength to his wiry and athletic frame, look for Cohen to become a true force in the 2028 class and a go-to player for the storied program at De Pere.

Silas showed why he was one of the biggest risers in the updated Wisconsin 2028 rankings. Big3 Basketball simply had no answer for him in the first half on Friday night, as Silas was getting to the rim for two points whenever he wanted to. He’s so crafty with his footwork when he gets in the paint, allowing him to find angles to finish even between two-three defenders. Cohen also flashed his shooting touch when he had a four point play from the top of the key. Silas has an extremely long wingspan for his size, and plays with good pace on the ball allowing him to beat defenders off the dribble with ease.

The athleticism Cohen possesses immediately stands out when you watch him compete on the basketball court. His bounce and confidence separate him from many other guards in the state’s 2028 class. Toss in his ability to make shots and find open teammates, and it’s easy to understand why Cohen continues to rise among the elite in the sophomore class. He figures to be a mainstay in the De Pere lineup after being a key serve for the Redbirds in 2025-26.

De Pere has been pumping out college basketball players in recent years, and Silas looks to be their next promising young prospect. Whether he’s in the starting five or coming off the bench this season, Silas steps onto the floor looking to make an impact. He has an extremely long and wiry frame that helps him get up in passing lanes and make an impact defensively. On the offensive end he can hit the open three, and is arguably the best creator on his team, leading De Pere with 94 assists this season. He’ll look to solidify himself as a name to know in the state’s 2028 class with a strong showing this weekend.

Cohen is one of the more intriguing prospects I watched this season due to his high potential as a prospect. Silas stands at six-foot-two, but has a much longer wingspan than his actual height, to go along with his explosive athleticism. Cohen is one of the many dynamic scoring options for the Redbirds and Coach Brian Winchester. Cohen is able to create downhill using his shifty handle and overall quickness. He is extremely unselfish when he has the ball in his hands as well finding

on catch and shoot threes. Cohen recently joined the Power 5 roster for club season and should make a lot of noise this club season with his college ready frame and playmaking abilities. Silas was an honorable mention FRCC selection and averaged 9.7ppg, 3.5apg, and 1.1spg.

A player who is getting better by the day, Cohen figures to continue his rise up the Prep Hoops Wisconsin Player Rankings over the next few years. His combination of skill, athleticism and size are tough to deal with for opponents, and he isn’t afraid to use all of those attributes at any point in a game. He is averaging 8.3 points off the bench for yet another very good De Pere squad. He also contributes 3.2 assists per game as the Redbirds take a 11-2 mark into a game Thursday with visiting Notre Dame Academy.

A potent weapon off the bench for De Pere, Cohen showed the ability to get to the rim and finish while also knocking down some perimeter shots. His length, skill and verticality combination are tough to deal with and he’s also aggressive with the ball in his hands, making it tough on opponents. Cohen had 12 points in De Pere’s win over Milwaukee Academy of Science and 10 in the overtime triumph over Neenah. His scoring punch in a reserve role figures to be very important for coach Bria Winchester’s squad all winter.

Cohen is an exciting prospect out of De Pere who proved to be a relentless competitor for Team 9. He consistently pressured the rim, drawing fouls and earning frequent trips to the line. His assertiveness on the ball not only fueled his own production but also created opportunities for teammates. Cohen’s toughness, leadership, and commitment to attacking separated him from the pack.
