Westosha Central came up short in their season opener, but Elijah still showed some of the playmaking and shot creating ability that has him heading to Cornell next year. Knocked down a handful of jumpers, dished out some impressive passes out of pick & rolls, and was the main source of offense for his team. A loss in their season opener isn’t ideal for Westosha Central, but led by Griffin they still have the talent to compete for a SLC title.

A two-time first-team all-league selection in the Southern Lakes Conference, Griffin owns NCAA Division I scholarship offers from both Bryant and Southern Utah. A lead guard with good vision and court awareness on defense, Griffin is coming off a strong junior season in which he averaged 20.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 2.7 steals. His unselfishness with the ball in his hands has led to an enormous amount of success for the Westosha Central program. The Falcons have won 65 games in Griffin’s three years as a varsity performer at the school.

You won’t find many players at the high school level with the vision Elijah possesses. He’s a wizard with the ball in his hands, able to zip in passes from a variety of angles to set up his teammates for easy buckets. Elijah just has the ability to look off defenders to create openings for his teammates, and despite not looking is still able to deliver accurate passes. Playing alongside a 6’9 big he’s such a big threat in the pick & roll because he can thread the needle to his big rolling to the rim, or pull-up for three if his defender sags off. Helped lead his team past Greendale in the game I watched.
