The Minnesota Preseason All State Team

The best of the best in Minnesota, regardless of class, coming into the 2026-27 season. Our preseason All State Team.   First Team   [player_tooltip player_id='2126118' first='Tyler' last='Forrest'] of Chaska (Sr).  South Dakota State Commit.  Season Goal: Return his team to the state title game and win it again.  Can Tyler accomplish this goal?  It will be a battle in section first but from there anything can happen.    [player_tooltip player_id='2126467' first='Baboucarr' last='Ann'] of Maple Grove (Sr). Wisconsin Commit.  Season Goal:  Win a state title and win Mr. Basketball.  Can Babou accomplish this goal?  His Crimson team has the talent to win a title but the pressure they will face will be big because they have two Badger commits. And yes Ann surely has the talent to win Mr. Basketball and he can do it if he plays within that system and flourishes.     Kevin Wilson Jr of Tartan (Jr).  Top Junior Prospect in the State.  Season Goal: Win a state title and win Minnesota Player of the Year..  Can KJ accomplish this goal?  It's certainly attainable, Tartan likely needs their young guys to grow up on the court, and they need some inexperience to play big if that is to happen. Wilson also has a chance to be the overall player of the year.   [player_tooltip player_id='2126117' first='Malachi' last='Hill'] of Totino-Grace (Sr). Top Uncommitted Player in the State. Season Goal: Win Mr. Basketball.  Can Hill accomplish this?  TG is racking up state titles and they are the favorite to win another.  If that happens again, Hill will have a real chance to win Mr. Basketball, but if they don't win it, likely not.    [player_tooltip player_id='2126115' first='Vincent' last='Cronin'] of Edina (Sr).  Miami of Ohio Commit.  Season Goal: Make the state tournament.  Can Cronin accomplish this goal?  It's pretty tough to do with Buffalo, Wayzata and Hopkins (Edina was 0-7 vs them last season) not just being teams in the section you have to deal with but them having more returning experience than Edina is a big thing.  But Cronin is really good and he could win Mr. Basketball so don't put it past him.   Second Team   [player_tooltip player_id='2126094' first='Ty' last='Schlagel'] of Cretin-Derham Hall (Sr). Nebraska Commit. Season Goal: It would be to win a state title but we have no crystal ball to tell you when Ty's unfortunate summer injury will heal and when he will be back.  We wanted to keep him among his peers here though which I think is the right thing to do.    [player_tooltip player_id='2533408' first='Deon' last='Wallace-Johnson'] of DeLaSalle (Sr). D1 Offered Guard. Season goal: Win the State Tournament.  Can Deon accomplish this? DeLaSalle surely has the talent to win the title and Deon is a guy that plays in a win that can get the job done.  If some of his teammates mature and play team basketball, they can win it.    [player_tooltip player_id='2126466' first='Kobby' last='Sambrew'] of Prior Lake (Sr). Minnesota State Mankato Commit. Season Goal: Make the state tournament.  Can Kobby accomplish this goal?  Prior Lake is a top ten team so they certainly could make state but they also have to get past Chaska.    [player_tooltip player_id='1819128' first='Bryce' last='Gaustad'] of Anoka (Sr).  North Dakota Commit.  Season Goal: Make the state tournament.  Can Bryce accomplish this goal? Anoka can make state but they have to get more consistent guard play and get by Blaine.    [player_tooltip player_id='2126128' first='Isaiah' last='Asuma'] of Cherry (Sr).  Montana State Football Commit. Season Goal: Make the state tournament.  Can Isaiah accomplish this?  Yes, yes he can but this is going to be a tough task as Cherry has a new coach and a lot to replace.    Third Team   [player_tooltip player_id='2412724' first='Dre' last='Collins'] of Richfield (Sr).  Top Twenty Player in Minnesota.  Season Goal:  Win the State Tournament.  Can Dre accomplish this?  If Richfield had returned all their key players I would surely say they could, but with transfers it seems like a tougher task.   [player_tooltip player_id='2126102' first='Jaeden' last='Udean'] of DeLaSalle (Sr).  Top Twenty Player in Minnesota.  Season Goal: Win the State tournament.  Can Jaeden accomplish this?  Same as Deon in terms of the goal.  If this team has all its pieces mature and play in a team way both ways, they can surely bring home gold.   [player_tooltip player_id='2126458' first='Luke' last='Schroeder']  of Shakopee (Sr). Concordia St Paul Commit. Season Goal:  Make the state tournament. Can Luke accomplish this goal?  If you look at the players on the team you would say yes, if you look at their results last year you would say now.  But that's why they play the games!    [player_tooltip player_id='2560534' first='Tre' last='Moore'] of Hopkins (Jr).  Top Five Junior in State. Season Goal: Win the state tournament.  Can Tre  accomplish this?  If you have seen James Ware teams with many pressuring and attacking guards along with frontcourt athletes you would surely say yes. And Hopkins has those things after several transfers plus four good players back from last year's rotation.   [player_tooltip player_id='2394170' first='Alex' last='Loos'] of Goodhue (Jr).  Top Ten Junior in State.  Season Goal:  Win the State Tournament.  Can Alex accomplish this?  Goodhue has three really good starters back but I'm not sure they will have the depth North, Minnehaha Academy, or Pequot Lakes will have.    Fourth Team   [player_tooltip player_id='2126126' first='Ray' last='Brau'] of Hibbing (Sr). Michigan Tech Commit.  Season Goal: Make the State Tournament.  Can Ray accomplish this?  The Jackets have the talent returning to do it, they just need to top GR and Denfeld to get it down.    [player_tooltip player_id='2126450' first='Gavin' last='Walter']  of Champlin Park (Sr). One of the top uncommitted players in the state.  Season Goal: Make the state tournament.  Can Gavin accomplish this?  They have to get through Maple Grove to do it and with the summer additions and what is back, they have the depth to make a push.    [player_tooltip player_id='2397563' first='Thomas' last='Jordan'] of Buffalo (Jr). An All State Sophomore last year.  Season Goal: Make the state tournament.  Can Thomas accomplish this?  The Bison have to get through teams we have talked about like Edina and Hopkins, and a team we have yet to get to, Wayzata.  The Bison return enough talent plus got great frontcourt help from the portal.   [player_tooltip player_id='2126108' first='Jack' last='Thelen'] of Maple Grove (Sr). Wisconsin Commit.  Season Goal: Win the state tournament.  Can Jack accomplish this?  The Crimson have a great coaching staff, they have talent returning, and they have talent coming up so yes they surely can.  But it will take team basketball to get it done.    [player_tooltip player_id='2395557' first='Gus' last='McKenna'] of Pequot Lakes (Jr). Top Five Prospect in the State. Can Gus accomplish this?  Pequot has the talent for a deep run but do they have the guard playmaking to beat the other top AA teams?  That is the big question.    Fifth Team   [player_tooltip player_id='2436914' first='Kellen' last='Troup'] of Minnehaha Academy (Sr).  Top Five Uncommitted in Senior Class.  Season Goal: Win another state title.  Can Kellen accomplish this?  Absolutely.  The Hawks have the talent to repeat.    [player_tooltip player_id='2824358' first='Nicholas' last='Taylor'] of Lanesboro (Sr).  St. Cloud State.  Season Goal: Take his team to state and be the best defensive player in the state.  Can Taylor accomplish this?  Lanesboro has to get past experienced Southland but it can happen, and Taylor surely could have insane defensive numbers in Class A.   [player_tooltip player_id='2126464' first='Gavyn' last='Lorenson'] of Lake City (Sr). UMD Commit. Season Goal: Make the state tournament.  Can Gavyn accomplish this?  Tough task.  Its a tough section and Lake City has a new coach and there are players to replace.  They can do it but its tough.    [player_tooltip player_id='2362161' first='Matthew' last='Johnson'] of St. Louis Park (Sr).  Minnesota State Mankato Commit.  Season Goal: Have a competitive team vs the best in the state.  Can Matthew accomplish this?  Johnson is good enough, and he has a few starters back but the deck is stacked against them to a degree with so many players in their school district so often going other places.    [player_tooltip player_id='2524646' first='Griffin' last='Epema'] of Montevideo (Sr).  Two Time Class AA All State Player.  Season Goal: Win a state title.  Can Griffin accomplish this?  Montevideo is going to be in a similar spot to Goodhue where they will be good and talented but will they have the depth for the title game?   Sixth Team   [player_tooltip player_id='2560458' first='Emmanuel' last='Oyesanmi'] of Tartan (Jr).  Top Five Junior.  Season Goal: Win State.  Can Emmanuel accomplish this?  They can if they get enough experience to mold through the year.    [player_tooltip player_id='2433532' first='Max' last='Beeninga'] of Wayzata (Sr). Minnesota State Moorhead Commit.  Season Goal: Win State.  Can Max accomplish this goal?  I will never ever look past Wayzata to win state, but the section is a bit deeper now.  [program_tooltip program_id='2075965' first='Trojans' last=''] won't be the preseason pick but they will be top five/ten in AAA.   [player_tooltip player_id='1956268' first='Shay' last='Jackson'] of Totino-Grace (Sr).  Concordia St Paul Commit.  Season Goal: Win State.  Can Shay accomplish this goal? If Shay and Malachi play like the guards they are, TG should win state.    Ichima Idoko of DeLaSalle (Jr). Second Ranked Junior in State. Season Goal: To take the steps as an experienced player that helps the team win state. Can Ichima accomplish this goal? He has the right head coach to guide him there and if the growth happens, those high major doors will open big.   [player_tooltip player_id='2877054' first='Asher' last='Wieberdink'] of Central Minnesota Christian (Sr). Southwest Minnesota State Commit. Season Goal: Win State.  Can CMC and Asher accomplish this goal?  They are the number one team in state entering the year!
