played one of the best floor games I have seen all season when he led Select over North Dakota Phenom on Saturday. This was a near 20 point game and Shay sliced and diced the Phenom with attacks, with his push, with his pace, the making of open shots, but more importantly, he had full control of the offense and the team flourished because of it.
This might be the first time I have seen Shay with the ball in his hands nearly the entire game to run the show and the impression made was lasting. CSP and SJU are on Shay heavy and I can see why…. he got an A+ plus for his decision making and an A++ as a top ball pressure guy. With ball in Shay’s hands fully, Select played their best game since April (that I have seen).

just keeps getting better this spring/summer. Against a North Dakota Phenom team that featured some of the top 2027’s in North Dakota, Shay was coming up with plays to help lead his Select team to a comfortable win. The opposing defense just didn’t have anyone that could handle the quickness of Shay on the ball, and he was able to get to his spots for a couple of pull-up jumpers throughout the game. Shay is extremely dangerous out in the open floor because he’s constantly scanning, and times his passes perfectly to find a teammate slashing to the rim. Defensively he showed that on-ball pressure that tends to force a handful of turnovers just about every time he steps on the floor.

was bringing the energy for
Minnesota Select
in an 8am matchup with
Pro Lane
. He was all over the floor applying pressure defensively, constantly picking up full-court and looking to force turnovers. Shay seems to have endless energy on the defensive end of the floor, and kept up that heavy pressure until the final buzzer. He helped his team claw back from a five point deficit in about 10 seconds, tying things up with a buzzer beating three to force overtime. Select would go on to win against
Pro Lane
, and followed that up with a win over 24:Up P32 later that morning.
