About Max
Expert Analysis
Ryan James | Prep Hoops Scout
Max is an all around tough guy competitor. He plays the role his team needs, and in the last 12 months we have seen Wayzata and Minnesota Fury ask him to play just about all roles, and Max has played them well. We have seen him defend at a very high level, we’ve seen him change games with his shooting touch, we have seen Max play the distribution role, and we’ve seen him do a combination of all of it. The Dragons will be getting a matured all around player, a player that I think is going to take the Trojans further than expected.

A clutch shot maker who competes with an edge and a very strong desire to win, Beeninga made the biggest shot of the game against 24: Up. With his team trailing by two and under 15 seconds left, Beeninga took a pass, quickly spotted up from nearly 25 feet and let go with a three-point shot that swished through to give the Fury a 76-75 lead while accounting for the final points of the game. Beeninga, who has committed to NCAA Division II Minnesota State Moorhead, hit shots and made big hustle plays throughout the contest. He is quick and disruptive on defense and a big-time shot maker from deep on offense.

Max put on one of the best scoring performances I have seen this spring in an opening night win over Hoop Habits. The 6’1” guard started the game off hot from the perimeter and never cooled down. He was knocking down looks from deep off the catch and off the dribble, making the defense pay every time for giving him any space. He ran the point for his team and was great at creating open scoring looks for his teammates. Beeninga also gave high effort on the defensive end and is one of the most well-rounded guard prospects in Minnesota’s junior class.

was on fire in a win over
Wisconsin Breakaway
on Saturday. The quick junior out of Wayzata was getting to any spot he wanted to off the dribble, and didn’t seem capable of missing for a handful of minutes as he simply took the game over. He can fly up the floor in transition, hit shots from well beyond the arc, or get to the rim and draw contact to earn easy points at the FT line. When Max is on the floor, the ball always seems to go where it needs to, and it never sticks in his hands. Even when he’s in a rhythm and looking to score, it’s all quick and decisive decisions out of Max.
