is a six-foot-four-inch 2027 guard from Champlin Park and Hoop Habits UAA that was committed to the University of Northern Iowa but after a coaching change Walter has reopened his recruitment. Then and now Walter showed good court awareness and an ability to shoot from beyond the arc. Walter ever since that summer had good size for guard, could handle the ball enough, is a solid passer and range on his shot.

to step back into the recruiting forefront. Gavin was committed to Northern Iowa but a change of staff has led to a change of recruitment at UNI and Walter is now open. At 6’4/6’5, Walter is a smooth, skilled player that has spent time at just about every position in high school (I saw him playing PG for the Rebels as a sophomore and I saw him guarding fives for Hoop Habits a bit this 17u season). The skills and versatility are there and I would expect some D2 schools to step in soon, if they haven’t already.

– The six-foot-four-inch 2027 guard from Champlin Park reopened college recruitment when he decommitted from the University of Northern Iowa recently. Walter has good size on the perimeter that allows him to see over the defense and exhibits high court IQ. Walter is a good outside shooter that mixes in the mid-range that also has skill to drive from the perimeter.

Gavin is one of the top offensive players in Minnesota and it was on display all weekend in Shakopee. He is such a polished prospect, being able to create and score at such an elite level. He was hitting on his shots from the outside, getting off the catch looks off in the blink of an eye. He looked good getting to pull-up jumpers in the mid-range and downhill drives for crafty finishes. The Northern Iowa commit has been one of the top 17U players this spring and summer.

Gavin continues to impress with his offensive skillset and it is great to see him back and healthy again. The Northern Iowa commit is a knockdown shooter and was tough to stop from getting to his pull up jumper from the perimeter this past weekend. Walter is a smart player who was also getting his teammates involved, creating a lot for his offense. The 6’4” wing has the length to match up with a variety of different positions defensively as well.
