– The six-foot-eight-inch 2028 Pequot Lakes forward McKenna wasn’t the highest rising 2028 Minnesota prospect but he did make significant strides and is now a top 4 player in our rankings. What was a trend in basketball is now the thing, versatility, especially guys that can defend near the rim and block shots defensively and play on the perimeter offensively. Gus is a long, athletic forward that fits that mold plus he’s an excellent runner (runs cross-country). What makes Gus so high on the list isn’t just what he potentially can be, it’s what he is now and could be. Gus possesses inside out abilities and showed this spring and summer he can produce at high level.

‘s rise continues. We saw it at state, we saw it in St. Cloud, we saw at at Battle, and when a team that had Ichma, Jonas, Zeke and Zoa came at Gus at state, Gus outplayed them all going at the rim, rebounding plus finishing at the arc.
Gus is the frontcourt player in the class that the Gophers showed up to watch, and he is one of the top five prospects in the state right now and he did it for a 30 win team.

Gus showed why he’s been arguably the biggest stock riser in Minnesota’s 2028 class this spring. Against Minnesota Falcons he showcased his impressive mobility on the opening play of the game, catching on the wing and exploding down the lane for a two handed dunk. In the two games I watched over the weekend, Gus hit a handful of threes, knocked down a tough pull-up jumper off the move, and swatted at least 7 shots. Impressive fluidity at his size, with the skill and toughness to make plays in the paint or out on the perimeter. Continues to produce against some of the top 2028s in the state.
