Flyers Fly High over DePaul Prep in Battle of Elite Programs

When you talk about programs that have been consistently good year in and year out with trips to state or deep runs in the playoffs year after year DePaul Prep and East St. Louis are on the short list. They met up in an 8 AM contest were East St. Louis won 65-62. The strong June of [player_tooltip player_id='2962335' first='Phillip' last='Jones'] continues as he builds off what we saw a week ago at Lindenwood. The 2027 super bouncy point guard plays with tremendous speed, athleticism, and shot making. Caught multiple lobs on baseline out of bounds plays and poured in threes for 30 points. Their top long term prospect is [player_tooltip player_id='3576059' first='Emurion' last='Jackson']. The shooting guard has star potential with his combination of size, athleticism, and skill. High level defender that is an excellent passer and flashes his ability to score and get to the line as he had 11 points.

DePaul Prep definitely has a new look. It is rising junior [player_tooltip player_id='2842573' first='Blake' last='Choice']'s team now. He and [player_tooltip player_id='2425702' first='Magnus' last='Johnson'] are the only two returners who played meaningful minutes for a team that made it to state for fourth consecutive year. He had 24 points in the morning contest as he was effective probing the defense getting to his spots for pull up jumpers along with slick takes to the cup. Pushed in transition and was active on the defensive end. Like where his game is trending in 2028! Johnson notched 7 points in the loss converting through contact in the paint and flashing as a shot blocker. St. Viator transfer 2028 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2751053' first='Jacob' last='Only'] was quiet in the first half, but turned it up in the second half with crafty takes in the lane for 9 points.

Vahl Shows Out, but Benet Too Much

This game had quite a bit of star power and a loaded bleacher of college coaches as Benet won over Oswego 65-44. Top 2027 post [player_tooltip player_id='2323620' first='Ed' last='Stasys'] is a legit candidate for the newly vacated top spot in the rising senior class. Power forward showcased the strengths of his game. Dominant rebounder who plays with strength and athleticism in the paint. Can put it on the deck, passed it well, and even hit a step back in the mid-range. Plays above the rim on both ends as he had 20 points. Emerging 2027 wing [player_tooltip player_id='2426052' first='Cormac' last='Hanus'] was lights out from the perimeter as the lefty poured in one three after another for 15 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2425956' first='Perry' last='Tchiegne'] is a high level distributor, defender, and connective piece who will have a breakout season as a senior.

Top 3 2028 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='2125627' first='Ethan' last='Vahl'] scored 31 of Oswego's 44 points. He was extremely impressive as the long and wiry two guard poured in feathery jumpers one after another. Deep threes including pulling up one from the volleyball line. Mixed in some floaters, put backs, and got loose in transition. Absolute bucket getter!

[player_tooltip player_id='2125591' first='Caden' last='Crudup'] of Whitney Young has played well this weekend and did so again for the Dolphins in their 56-51 win against Waubonsie Valley. Crudup has grown and gotten stronger. With that he has improved as a rebounder on both ends along with being able to convert in the paint. More of a combo forward now than a guard. He is a high level utility player that pushes ahead with his passing, gets put backs, and defended at a very high level while scoring 15 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2886496' first='TJ' last='Jamison'] has next in terms of star power at Whitney Young.
