Jakstys had a very strong showing on the second day of RB. Put back to back impressive performances together when we saw him. More of a wing than his brother although he can also be looked at as a stretch four. Handles it very well both in the open floor and half court. Put it on the deck attacking the defense with his long strides for scores in the paint. Plus athlete that plays with a very high motor. Pushes it off the defensive glass. Clean looking shot from three and is an impactful defender covering a ton of ground.

Jakstys found success roaming around the perimeter and then cutting or driving to the rim to score using his length and body. Playing through contact and on balance, Jakstys was tough to move off his spot and was patient with the ball in his hands. There was nothing flashy about Jakstys game but he made the extra pass, could finish with either hand and made basic dribble moves to get past his defender. Jakstys older brother plays for Illinois and Joey looks well on his way to becoming a Division I player himself when the time comes.

Joey was a key reason why Breakaway came away with a win over Meanstreets EYBL on Saturday. The 6’7 forward is relentless on the glass, and came up with a number of second chance buckets for his team. As a defender you may be bigger than him or more athletic than him, but you aren’t likely going to outwork him. Joey was cutting hard without the ball, beat opposing bigs up the floor in transition, and showed touch from beyond the arc throughout the weekend. He showed why he’s one of the top forwards in Illinois’ 2028 class.
