Another 2029 standout on Saturday was Fitz McDermott Fitz McDermott 6'2" | SG St. Ignatius | 2029 IL of Meanstreets EYCL. He led his team to a win over Davis Brothers Elite in one of the early morning games, flashing three level scoring ability. The 6’2 guard was so smooth getting to his spots off the dribble, and was simply taking whatever the defense gave him. He could hit a catch-and-shoot three, could get to his mid-range jumper off limited dribbles, or could use his length to extend and finish at the rim. Well rounded guard with some nice potential moving forward.

We came away very impressed with McDermott at the Showcase.  This 6’2” shooting guard from St. Ignatius is a wing that has size and should continue to get taller.  His creative handles were so much fun to watch.  One time it was so good he dropped a defender to the ground.  Shake off the bounce getting to the rim and showed overall quickness with ball in his hands.  Scoop shots and the ability to convert with either hand at the cup.  Had a nice mid-range shot, flair as a passer, and a couple steals as well.  Iggy has a good one!

Fitz brings a strong hard working competitive mentality to the game. Against more athleticism or size he still played with a fined tuned motor. Handles it comfortably at matured size for age. Positionless player. Offensively pushed it consistently off d boards, made accurate reads including cross court passes or perimeter swings for assists. Attacks the rim with efficiency while drawing contact or collapsing the defense. Will kick it from inside out when necessary. Defensively guarded quicker guys out with a strong will and toughness. Made multiple pick pocket steals to turn defense into offense and positioned himself in the passing lanes consistently. Impacted the game to keep team in it throughout.
