About Tarris
Expert Analysis
Riley Highfill | Prep Hoops Scout
Already committed to Alabama, Tarris Bouie showed exactly why he’s regarded as one of the top prospects in the country. The elite scoring guard was in full control all weekend, getting buckets whenever his team needed them. Whether it was pulling up from deep or attacking downhill, Bouie made it look easy.
He combines athleticism with a polished scoring package. His ability to take over stretches of the game stands out immediately. Bouie doesn’t just score—he imposes his will. Playing with Drifty Cold Hearts, he consistently delivered in big moments. He showed that he’s more than ready for the next stage. If this weekend was any indication, Alabama is getting a player. He can make an impact early in his college career.

One of the more naturally gifted perimeter players in the class across the country, Bouie made it look effortless at times while leading his powerful SPIRE squad to a runaway win over College Achieve Charter (NJ). The rangy wing scorer was a menace attacking the rim both in transition and the halfcourt, covering ground with extreme grace before soaring above the rim for explosive finishes over or around the rotating defenders. He flashed his ability as a shotmaker as well, and added a pair of impressive blocked jump shots on the other end that showcased his length and quick-twitch ability. Still 17 years old, Bouie has substantial upside to continue maturing into as he moves forward to the SEC.

Bouie came back home to the HoopState and put on a show in Spire’s win over one of NC’s best teams in Greensboro Day. Bouie had an incredibly efficient performance finishing with 19 Points, 4 Rebounds, and 3 Steals on 7-11 from the floor. Bouie’s blend of shot making and athleticism make him a prototypical high major wing with still a lot of upside to tap into as he gets physically stronger. Once he adds that strength, I fully expect Bouie to take another leap in his game. He’s made tremendous strides defensively, more equipped to use his physical gifts at that end of the floor than ever before. The steady progression from Bouie over the years has been a joy to see, it was on full display in his return to the HoopState.

Just a different level athlete than the prospects he shares the court with, Bouie flies in transition and gets a handful of run out dunks a game it seems every time I watch him play. In transition Bouie also covers so much ground which allows him to coast by defenders on euro-step moves in transition. Also throwing down the dunk of the year that I’ve seen so far this 2025-26 season, Bouie got a head of steam and dunked all over a St Xavier defender at the rim. Improving as a spot-up shooter as well, Bouie knocked down a handful of jumpers from beyond the arc this weekend. The fit with Bouie in the SEC is perfect and as one of the younger players in the 2026 class, he should continue to improve quickly when he arrives in Tuscaloosa.

One of the most athletic wings in the country, Bouie has some special ability in transition with his length and explosive athleticism. That was shown when he dunked over two defenders on a strong drive down the lane in traffic for Team Thad as they beat Brad Beal Elite to start 1-0 in pool play. Defensively, Bouie had 3 steals and that allowed Team Thad to play out in transition where they thrive. After a slow first half Bouie banked in a 3-pointer and the switch was flipped as he was the most productive player on the court in the second half. Excited to continue to monitor his development as a prospect.

One of the most athletic players in the country, Bouie is raising his stock as quickly as any player in the country right now. With recent offers from Michigan and North Carolina State as well as southern powerhouse programs like Alabama having been involved for a while, Bouie has no shortage of high major opportunities. His defensive activity and ability to play above the rim in transition makes him an especially good fit in a more up-tempo conference like the SEC or Big 12 where he will fit in well with their depth of athletes. While he’s currently ranked outside the top 75 on most rankings websites, I expect Bouie to climb up to the top 50 before the summer concludes in some national rankings lists.

A dynamic and versatile scorer. He excels at creating his own shot off the dribble. He can score on multiple levels whether it’s attacking the basket or knocking down outside shots with consistency. A very good positional rebounder and uses his athleticism to elevate, blocking shots and making an impact on defense. Offensively, Blue is a elite shooter with a quick release. Attacking the basket, Blue is an acrobatic finisher at the rim, and is strong enough to absorbing contact and still finish. His court awareness, ability to create his own shot and playmaking ability make him a key contributor to his team’s success.
