The 2029 prospects had a strong weekend with a handful of them not only competing but thriving on this national stage. Johnson had some extremely impressive flashes with perimeter shot making, active hands defensively and transition scoring. Few players in the 2028 or 2029 class can match Johnson’s perimeter ability at his size combined with his fluid athleticism. I expect Johnson to continue to improve as he’s newer to high-level basketball than most other prospects his age and grade. A player I’d have a ton of long-term stock in, Johnson will debut highly in the national 2029 rankings when they release in the fall.

Johnson arrived at Oak Hill midseason, but it didn’t take long to see the impact and long-term potential he brings. The freshman possesses elite size, length, and athleticism for his age, paired with an advanced offensive skill set. He is a true three-level scorer who plays with confidence and poise, capable of creating his own offense and producing in multiple ways. With his physical tools and developing skill, Johnson has tremendous upside and projects as a high-level prospect moving forward.

One of the top prospects in the 2029 class, Johnson is going to be a player basketball fans across the country familiarize themselves with over the next few years. Johnson is an incredible vertical athlete and had some impressive above the rim finishes when he got downhill in transition. Also a knockdown shooter, Johnson made a handful of shots from the corners where he liked to spot-up or cut to the rim. It’s very early in the development stage for 2029 prospects but Johnson looks like a potential top 10 prospect when the initial national rankings drop for that class.

Johnson is one of the best prospects in the country in the freshman class. His ability to play above the rim was on full display gliding in the sky to finish above the rim. Johnson showed flashes from behind the arc by spacing the floor. I was very impressed with him as a prospect in my first ever viewing of him. On the defensive side of the floor his length came in handy by altering shots. He moves exceptionally well for his size.
