You could make a strong case that Kamissoko was the top overall performer of the weekend at the camp. One of the most talented wings in all of high school basketball, Kamissoko seems to dominate camp settings. Being active on the offensive glass is an easy way to get extra possessions and easy layups and Kamissoko did that better than any other player at his position this weekend. Kamissoko also got to his spots in the mid-range with the ball in his hands, benefitting from so much on-ball usage at Long Island Lutheran this past season. Based on what I saw this weekend, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kamissoko is a leader on the team this summer.

Wrapping up what’s been a somewhat up-and-down junior season for the nationally-regarded forward, Kamissoko played as well as he arguably ever has in a 32-minute showcase of his dynamic two-way ability. The Swiss-army forward played with aggression and an infectious spirit from the opening tip, spearheading a blowout win with an efficient 24-point triple-double. Kamissoko was at his best in transition, using his length to make plays on D and get out in the open floor, where he could display his smooth ball skills, advanced passing vision, and improved finishing ability. He knocked down a smooth corner 3, was effective using his length to clean the glass, and also showed his instincts as a cutter from an off-ball role in the halfcourt. It was a welcome reminder as to why the New York product has been ranked as high as the top-5 in his class across the country.

A versatile wing prospect, Kamissoko has gotten a lot of on-ball reps for Long Island Lutheran this season because of injuries to top scorers. Despite a tough record in league play, I liked that Kamissoko was thrown into the fire this winter and had to be trusted to make a lot of plays with the ball in his hands. I’ve known he can defend, run the floor and provide energy, but his potential NBA future will be determined by how his offensive skillset fills out.
