Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Bollin has been the Middlesex Magic 17u team’s most productive player to start this spring. During UAA session 1, he led the squad in points and rebounds, while finishing second in assists. The 6-foot-7 wing/forward is built like an NFL linebacker, and he uses his strength to get to wherever he wants on the floor. What’s amazing is that he used to have some trouble with turnovers/decision making, but he only had 2 TO’s during the first UAA session and showcased the ability to be an offensive hub throughout the weekend. He’s shooting the ball well, he defends and rebounds like a madman, and the feel for the game is coming along very nicely. He recently picked up Columbia and Harvard offers, and more will be coming if I had to guess.

Bollin, a wing out of the Newman School, checks in at #25 overall and #7 among the small forwards. Bollin is an ultra-versatile defender that has the strength needed to defend in the post and the mobility to defend quicker guards on the perimeter. He rebounds it at a high level, can play through contact as a driver, and does a nice job of finishing around the rim. He’s a connector in that he can fill a variety of rolls on the floor and does a little bit of everything well. His versatility is his calling card and allows him to make an impact on any game.

Bollin is a unique player who does a little bit of everything on the court. If you walked into the gym and didn’t know what sport he played, you’d think he’s a D1 tight end who’s garnering NFL looks; the 6-foot-7 forward is huge in the upper body and has a great base. He uses this strength to punish guards on switches and bulldoze through opposing wings in the paint, and he also moves like a guard on the perimeter. The outside shot could be a bit more consistent and he could be better at finishing near the hoop, but he should be a key player for Newman this year and will add to their versatility on both ends.

Bollin looks a lot bigger/stronger than he did last time I saw him in person, and it’s paying dividends for him on the court. The 6-foot-7, big bodied forward was bullying his way inside the paint and using his toughness to get easy looks at the rim. He sometimes struggled to finish with touch around the rim, which is definitely something he could refine moving forward. He can also knock down three-point shots and plays good offensive basketball in terms of moving the ball. Will be interesting to see whether Bollin gets minutes for a talented Newman School team next season.

One of 2027’s most complete scorers, Bollin can get it done at all three levels with a combination of athleticism, finesse, power, and skill. A big guard that can operate as an initiator in the half-court, Bollin has impressive floor vision, can pass off the bounce with either hand, and utilize shot fakes and jab steps to get the defense off balance. He has in-the-gym range on his jumper, but also shows an advanced understanding of how to attack mismatches, including an impressive post game. Defensively, he’s an high IQ defender that can guard up and down a position due to his combination of lateral mobility and strength.

is a sharpshooting forward with a college-ready body already. His form is compact and repeatable, and his shot is dangerous when left open on the three-point line. Bollin’s impressive frame at his age helps him finish at the rim against older competition. He is strong and tough-minded and paces himself on his layup attempts. Bollin is also a terrific defender, playing with high intensity and energy while creating turnovers with ease. His floor is extremely high for someone his age because of the functional role-player skills that are already being put into action in meaningful gameplay. If Bollin continues to experiment and become more creative with the ball on the offensive end, his stock could skyrocket and become a must-get for programs and coaches.
