Higgins is going to turn LOTS of heads at Newman next season. With tons of meaningful players graduating this year, the 6-foot-9 forward from Brewer, ME, is primed to carve out a role as a versatile, two-way forward who can guard on the perimeter and in the paint and can play with or without the ball offensively. He can shoot it a bit from the outside (his touch on floaters in the paint is promising for the trajectory of his three-point shot), but he also does a really good job attacking closeouts and handling the ball in small spaces. He can pass, too, and has a knack for making simple, winning plays—he pesters the offensive glass relentlessly and is a smart cutter. I’m quite high on Higgins and can’t wait to see him compete at this level.

He’s at his best attacking the rim, either in transition or as a slasher, but also shows some ability to create with the ball in his hands. Defensively, he impresses with his versatility, understanding of how to use his length, and shot blocking instincts. Higgins will head to the Newman School in the fall and join the Class of 2029.

Higgins is another guy I’ve heard about from his dominance in Maine hoops, but he continues to put up performances that make him a name to know in New England. The 6-foot-9 wing/forward has great athleticism and super long arms, so he can impact shots at the hoop and finish dunks above the rim. But he also has a super cerebral offensive game and is very unselfish when it comes to driving and kicking to teammates. Admittedly, he has some rawness to his game right now—but once Higgins puts on some weight and strength, he could be a high level scholarship prospect. He’s about all of the right things and plays the right way already; Newman, where he’ll be next year, will be a great place for him to grow even more.

Higgins, an exciting prospect out of Brewer, has made a name for himself while playing up the for Maine Gym Rats. One of the top young forwards in the region, he has good positional size, elite length, and should only get better as he starts to fill out his frame. He’s a good athlete, a fluid mover, and shows impressive ball skills for someone of his age and size. He can attack in straight line drives from the perimeter, has a good nose for the ball on the offensive glass, and shows touch on his jumper out to the three point line. Defensively, he has great instincts as a shot blocker and is switchable when needed on the perimeter.
