This was my first time seeing Meribe in person, and I was quite impressed with his strength and athleticism. The 6-foot-8 forward is a great rim runner who seems to be in excellent physical condition, allowing him to beat opposing bigs up and down the floor. On the glass, he uses his quick first and second jumps and length to come down with rebounds, and his wide body to carve out space. He almost hit his head on the rim a couple times. Meribe’s offensive skillset is certainly still coming along, but he finishes well above the rim and should spend lots of time in the dunker spot for Newman. He’ll garner D1 looks because of his physicality and athletic ability.

Meribe makes his first appearance in the New England rankings at #52. The Newman School forward is athletic, physical, and tough; using those traits to his advantage in the paint. At 6’8″ with broad shoulders, he has the ability to impact games as a low block scorer, does a great job of running the floor in transition, and has a variety of moves with his back to the basket. Where he really shines is as a rebounder and rim protector, using his burst and length to his advantage to protect the area around the hoop.

Although still a little raw but still steadily improving, Will Meribe showed flashes of what makes him one of New Jersey’s more intriguing under the radar prospects. Possessing a consistent and tremendously high motor, Meribe was extremely active on the offensive and defensive glass, crashing the boards and coming down with rebounds. Meribe also displayed his finishing ability and nice touch around the basket.
