It's NEPSAC preview season!

I got a chance to watch Newman school both this summer and at open gyms this fall, as well as seeing tons of their individual players during the AAU season. Though they've lost a good number of players to college, they have reloaded with tons of talent.

Read: Team Preview: Newman School

Now, I'll cover some players who I didn't discuss in my preview but who have bright futures ahead. I'm not sure which team these guys will be on for this season, but they can all play.

Clement absolutely lit it up at last week's open gym. The 6-foot-1 PG was a total flamethrower and made shots from every area of the floor—he probably shot over 50% from three on high volume and difficulty. The senior also showcased great quickness at the point of attack and really good ball-handling ability on moves to the rim. I'm not sure whether he'll be able to play big minutes on Newman's top team, but I could see him running the show for the second team and picking up high level D3 recruitment as a result. Reminds me a lot of Mulvey from Babson.

Douglas was on a college visit during last week's open gym, but I got a chance to watch him this past AAU season and really like his game. Though he won't wow you with athleticism or quickness, the 6-foot-4 guard has great positional size and is an extremely smart as a decision-maker. He makes shots from three with great consistency, but he also knows how to read defenders at the rim and is a really solid passer. Defensively, his strength allows him to guard up and he's a great team defender. Douglas should be able to make an impact on one of the two teams this season and will get high level D3 recruitment.

Khalid might've been the best shooter I saw at last week's open gym. The 6-foot 2027 has one of the most beautiful releases I've seen and can get his looks off in a variety of ways—either off the dribble or off of movement. He also does a good job driving closeouts and is a low-mistake player when it comes to reads in the paint. Though he doesn't have amazing size or athleticism, his shot makes him a threat from everywhere on the floor. Khalid is a high-academic student and should find a great D3 fit.

Meribe has tantalizing physical tools and looks like he's ready to play scholarship basketball right now. The 6-foot-8 forward is built like an ox and has incredible strength in the paint. On post touches, he does a good job burrowing his defender under the rim before elevating for shots with his left hand or dunks above the rim. He's also quite active on the offensive boards, when he wants to be. Meribe strikes me as a guy who could majorly improve his recruitment and get on the radar of more scholarship coaches if he has a productive season this year with Newman.

Moynahan plays basketball the right way. The 6-foot-6 wing can defend all positions because of his size and length, and he's a tough kid who just wants to do whatever it takes to win. Offensively, he has really nice footwork coming off of screens and can knock down shots both ways, and he can also attack closeouts and finish with athleticism at the cup. Moynahan should be able to find a D3 fit and is the type of guy who will be loved by all his coaches.

Last week's open gym was my first time seeing Sanchez play, and I was really impressed by his well-rounded, two-way ability. The 6-foot-3 senior was electric as an offensive rebounder, consistently reading the ball off of the rim and timing his jump perfectly. He also made excellent decisions on the offensive end, whether it was making shots from the perimeter or driving closeouts and finishing with athleticism. Sanchez will be a nice D3 player and should be productive at Newman this season.

Gonzalez is the younger brother of Hugo (Boston Celtics), and you can tell by how he looks and how he plays. The 6-foot guard is a marksman from three-point range and does an excellent job flying off of screens and making catch-and-shoot threes from the perimeter. He also defends his behind off and knows how to play on the help-side. If Gonzalez can continue to grow and get stronger—which should theoretically happen soon given what his brother looks like—he could be a massive riser in the coming years.
