Griffiths, a rising senior, will spend his final year of high school at the St. Thomas More School in Connecticut. A nationally ranked prospect, the 6’7″ wing has had a terrific spring with the Middlesex Magic, showcasing his three-level scoring abiltity, smooth perimeter jumper, and explosive athleticism. He plays with a lot of versatility on the offensive end of the floor and is seemingly gaining confidence each time out. With good positional size and length, he’s also a plus defender that has the ability to make an impact on the glass and to provide rim protection. He picked up recent offers from Butler and Ole Miss and I’d expect those won’t be the only two programs to offer this weekend.

Griffiths was sensational shooting the basketball on Saturday. On a large number of shots and a high degree of difficulty including a lot of physical defenders trying to get up under him, the 6-foot-7 wing probably shot around 50% from three and was as impressive as I’ve seen him in person. For a player of his size and shooting ability, he has one of the quickest releases I’ve encountered at the high school level—sometimes it feels like the ball barely touches his hands before he lets it go—and he has an unwavering confidence that allows him to fight through slumps. Griffiths has everything you look for in a shooter and is only going to see his stock rise as he continues to put on weight and produce for the Magic and eventually St. Thomas More this coming winter.

Griffiths’ stock is quickly rising, and the offers are following (most recently Northwestern). The 6-foot-7 wing was the Magic’s second leading scorer during UAA session 1, and he did so while shooting 37% from three on lots of volume. The junior can shoot on the move, off the dribble, or in spot up situations (though most teams are smart enough to not let him get these), and his combination of shot quickness and size makes him extremely difficult to contest from all spots on the floor. He also has above-the-rim athleticism and has put on some weight since the winter, which is allowing him to rebound and defend better than he did at Avon. Griffiths will be a key piece of a Magic team going for another UAA chip this spring, and then he’ll transfer to the Newman School next year for hoops.

Griffiths is well on his way to being one of the biggest stockrisers of this AAU season. The 6-foot-6 wing is an unbelievable outside shooter who shoots the rock extremely quickly and has the size and length to get his shot off over anyone. What impressed me this weekend, though, was Griffiths’ improved strength on drives to the rim; he did a better job keeping his line than I’ve seen him in the past, and he clearly has more toughness than he used to. Griffiths picked up a Northwestern offer this weekend and also committed to Newman School for next season, so he should continue to make waves this spring with Middlesex Magic.

Griffiths, a wing out of the Avon Old Farms School, proved to be one of the best tough shot-makers in attendance, while also showing off some of the rim protection that he’s become known for. The Avon junior hit a number of tough shots against Exeter, including a game clinching three with a defender drapped all over him as the shot clock expired. He does a great job of moving without the basketball, knows how to use screens to get open, and is decisive with his decisions as a scorer. His potential on the defensive end of the floor probably doesn’t get talked about enough as he’s a long 6’7″ that is committed to rebounding and excels as a help-side shot blocker.

is oozing with offensive potential from the forward position. He was making shots off the bounce and was even taking and hitting them from NBA range. He also played tough on the boards and made smart passing decisions.

Griffiths impressed with his ability to space the floor as a sniper from deep. He is very confident from there and has no issue letting it fly. Griffiths has nice positional size and uses it to his advantage on either end. He was also a threat to block shots. He should see a ton of traction from division one programs in the coming months.

Griffiths, a member of the 16U UAA squad, is a high scoring wing out of Avon Old Farms School. Just named to the Under Armour Future 60, he’s quickly proven himself to be one of the top wings in the UAA. At 6’6″, he has good positional size which he uses to his advantage as a finisher around the rim and when getting his shot off over the defense. He’s really come on as a shooter this spring, making threes both in catch and shoot situations and on the move, where he utilizes screens, a deceptive shot fake, and slide dribbles to get into his jumper. He’s a plus athlete that can finish above the rim as a slasher or cutter, can defend multiple positions on the other end of the floor, and is a solid rebounder that can push the ball on the break.
