2027's Standout Small Forwards

Rankings coverage continues today with a look at some of the standout small forwards.   Arguably one of the region's deepest positions, headlined by [player_tooltip player_id='2407057' first='Declan' last='Griffiths'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2341434' first='DJ' last='Hawkins'], 56 prospects at the small forward position made it into this rankings update.   Here are five small forwards that caught our eye leading up to our rankings update:    Bollin, a wing out of the Newman School in Massachusetts, checks in as the #9 small forward and the #30 prospect overall. A physically imposing, 6'7" wing, Bollin stands out with his ability to do a bit of everything on the basketball court. He's strong enough to play bigger than his size, has a good feel for the game on the offensive end of the floor, and has diversified his scoring attack over the last year or so. He plays above the rim in space, is a really good two-way rebounder, and has the ability to defend multiple positions with his mobility. He'll continue his academic and athletic careers at Princeton.     Rodrigues, a wing out of Suffield Academy in Connecticut, checks in as the #13 small forward and the #41 prospect overall. A 6'5" wing that plays with a nice combination of athleticism and power, Rodrigues was a breakout performer this spring and summer and has firmly established himself as a Division I prospect. He's hard to guard when he gets downhill off the bounce, is a capable perimeter shooter, and even shows the ability to make tough shots late in the clock as a creator. His physical traits play on the defensive end of the floor, where he is competitive on the glass, makes plays in passing lanes, and does a nice job of guarding the ball at the point of attack.     Griffin, a wing out of the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut, checks in as the #22 small forward and the #71 prospect overall. At 6'6", Griffin is an impressive athlete that finishes plays with authority around the rim. He's quick off the floor, does a nice job of battling to keep plays alive on the glass, and has a two-way motor that stands out each time he takes the floor. He's a threat to score in transition as he's relentless attacking the rim. Defensively, he can protect the rim as a help-side shot blocker and shows the ability to guard up and down a lineup with his combination of mobility and strength. He's a prospect that should end up on scholarship watch this winter.     Gray, a wing out of the Newman School in Massachusetts, checks in as the #28 small forward and the #112 prospect overall. A high academic, 6'6" wing, Gray proved this summer that he can really shoot the basketball. He does a terrific job of using screens to get open, is consistently shot ready on the catch, and shows signs of being able to leverage his shooting as a driver. He's primed to be a breakout candidate this winter with his combination of shot making on the offensive end of the floor and high IQ positioning defensively. Canisius offered at the end of July and we'd bet that they won't be the last program to do so.     Huff, a wing out of Proctor Academy in New Hampshire, checks in as the #44 small forward and the #206 prospect overall. Huff is a 6'5" wing that excels in catch and shoot situations, but is also playing with more athleticism and strength as a driver in recent months. He's a good movement shooter, does a nice job of moving without the basketball, and has shown the ability to finish through contact around the rim. On the other end of the floor, he has the ability to guard up and down a position and uses his length both to be disruptive in passing lanes and to make an impact on the glass.
