Updated 2027 Prep Hoops Player Rankings

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A class that had ranked among the best ever in Wisconsin high school basketball lore has been decimated to a large degree by the ever-expanding prep school market. <br><br>To be sure, many outstanding players in the state's 2027 class opted to remain at their respective high schools with the goal of competing for a WIAA state championship in March. <br><br>However, others made the difficult decision to leave their high school communities and teammates in order to play at a prep school. <br><br>Consider the following:<br><br>** Dooney Johnson and [player_tooltip player_id='2530851' first='Corey' last='Collins'], the lone returning starters from Milwaukee Juneau's Division 4 state-title team, are attending East River High School in Orlando, Florida. Johnson, a 6-foot-6 guard and Gonzaga recruit, is ranked among the top 20-to-25 players in the country while Collins, a 6-foot-7 forward, turned in a strong showing in the spring/summer with the [program_tooltip program_id='2391400' first='Team' last='Herro'] 16U EYBL squad.<br><br>** Senior [player_tooltip player_id='2288469' first='Jalen' last='Brown'], a University of Wisconsin recruit, announced this week he will spend his senior year at Sequoia Prep in Arizona. Brown led Wauwatosa West to the 2025 Division 2 state championship and the 6-foot-5 guard was a key returning piece for a Trojans squad many expected to contend for another state title in 2026-27. His departure leaves a bit of a cloud over the Trojans' fortunes for the upcoming season. <br><br>** Promising senior wing Deuce McDuffie (6-7) announced in August he would be leaving Nicolet High School to attend Monarch Prep in Kansas City. McDuffie owns several NCAA Division I scholarship offers, including one from Wisconsin coach Greg Gard. <br><br>** Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='2508313' first='Evan' last='Ploeckelman'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2140983' first='Tref' last='Rademaker'] will be teammates at DME Academy at St. John's Northwestern in Delafield. Rademaker played as a freshman and sophomore at West DePere befoer enrolling last fall at DME, which plays a national prep school schedule. Ploeckelman played at Mukwonago through his junior season before opting to attending DME for his senior year. Both players have multiple NCAA Division I scholarship offers.<br><br>** Several others once in the state's 2027 class, including [player_tooltip player_id='2382133' first='Marion' last='Boyland'] of Sheboygan Lutheran and Milwaukee Academy of Science, [player_tooltip player_id='2352817' first='Alex' last='Robbins'] of Iola-Scandinavia and Tim West of Madison Edgewood, among others, also are playing at out-of-state prep schools. Robbins might be the best prospect of those three and the 6-foot-8 wing recently reclassified from the 2027 class to 2028.<br><br>The players leaving the high school ranks in Wisconsin are no longer listed in the updated class of 2027 Prep Hoops Wisconsin Player Rankings released today. And their departures certainly takes some of the luster off a 2027 class that might have gone down as the best ever. <br><br>Still, quality players did decide to stay, including Duke recruit and Wisconsin Lutheran senior [player_tooltip player_id='2140949' first='Kager' last='Knueppel'], Iowa State recruit and Freedom senior [player_tooltip player_id='1847792' first='Donovan' last='Davis'], Iowa State recruit and Slinger senior [player_tooltip player_id='2351190' first='Jack' last='Kohnen'], and Colorado State recruit and McFarland senior [player_tooltip player_id='2140913' first='Eli' last='Krueger'].<br><br>Additional state players from the senior class who have committed to Division I programs include [player_tooltip player_id='2127267' first='Zeak' last='Jones'] of Dominican (Northern Illinois), [player_tooltip player_id='2140905' first='Colin' last='Julien'] of Whitefish Bay (St. Thomas), [player_tooltip player_id='2138098' first='Michael' last='Rogers Jr.'] of Homestead (Northern Illinois), [player_tooltip player_id='2411648' first='Charlie' last='Hoel'] of Stanley-Boyd (North Dakota State), [player_tooltip player_id='2505503' first='Will' last='Stremlow'] of Verona (Northern Illinois) and [player_tooltip player_id='2140876' first='Austin' last='Luchetti'] of Monona Grove (Northern Illinois).<br><br>Outside of the 10 state players who have given commitments to Division I schools, another six have committed to Division II programs, including [player_tooltip player_id='2434543' first='Logan' last='Ramczyk'] of Xavier (Northern Michigan), [player_tooltip player_id='2502918' first='Will' last='Krueger'] of De Pere (Michigan Tech), [player_tooltip player_id='2140924' first='Graysen' last='Becker'] of Altoona (Angelo State), [player_tooltip player_id='2140977' first='Reece' last='Jordan Jr.'] of Madison La Follette (Augustana, SD), [player_tooltip player_id='2433100' first='Alex' last='Chapman'] of Mount Horeb (Hillsdale) and [player_tooltip player_id='2391346' first='Miles' last='Schmidgall'] of Fall Creek (Upper Iowa).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
