Chapman Basketball Academy got a nice win to wrap up their weekend as Julien impressed me as a wing guard who shot the ball well from the outside with a high release point and the ability to hit shots both off the catch and off quick dribble moves. Julien also had a couple of assists in transition where he made the simple advance pass to a teammate further ahead on the court off a steal or rebound. Making those unselfish plays might go unnoticed by some, but it’s the difference between an easy look in transition and a tough grind it out halfcourt set. Julien just announced a commitment to St Thomas University and that’s a program that has won consistently and gives him an opportunity to see the floor early as well.
Julien is just never out of control no matter what the defense throws at him. The six-foot-four prospect is a gifted scorer, can finish with crafty skills and athleticism, and has elite court vision when drawing extra defenders. Colin’s patience is to be desired as he made perfect timing passes and pull-up jumpers in the half court and in transition. Several low major and mid major schools were in attendance on court five to take in Julien’s diverse skill set for the Blue Dukes.
Julien has grown some since the end of the high school season and is projected to grow even more in the future based on family genetics. The smooth and skilled two-guard has a terrific understanding of the game and is selective and efficient. He helped Whitefish Bay to the WIAA Division 2 state championship in March and then took his game to the club circuit, where he has excelled for the Chapman Basketball Academy
program on the Puma circuit. His numbers for Whitefish Bay as a junior were outstanding — 18.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 3.5 apg, 2.5 spg and 1.3 bspg. He made 42 percent of his three-point attempts, banging 64 triples on the season. Milwaukee, Northern Illinois and Western Illinois are among the NCAA Division I schools with extended scholarship offers with many additional schools at that level also showing strong interest, including Brown and St. Thomas.
Colin Julien combined size, touch, and basketball IQ throughout the weekend. At 6’3, he consistently used his frame well while knocking down perimeter shots with a smooth stroke. He also contributed defensively by staying active and making smart reads on that end of the floor. Around the basket, Julien showed good body control and the ability to finish effectively through traffic. His offensive game looked balanced and under control throughout the event. He never seemed rushed or out of position offensively. Players with size and shooting ability like Julien always attract attention.
Current Offers: Northern Illinois, Western Illinois, Menlo, Northern Michigan, Michigan Tech.

, his counterpart at the Catholic high school in Whitefish Bay. Both are long, skilled and competitive. Like Jones, Julien is a very good shooter from deep. But the starting wing from Whitefish Bay’s WIAA Division 2 state-title team also has emerged as an outstanding defender and recent Division I offers from Northern Illinois and Western Illinois have put him on the map of mid-major programs in the Midwest. Julien is the best player on an extremely talented Chapman Basketball Academy
team that competes on the Puma Pro16 circuit and his play for coach Joe Chapman’s squad this spring has been outstanding.
