Mohammad wasn’t backing down against two of the top AAU teams in Minnesota. He’s a physically strong 6’3 wing with broad shoulders and a frame you don’t often see on the basketball court. That combined with a pure shooting stroke from outside helped him be one of the top scorers in Wisconsin high school basketball this past winter. Against D1 Minnesota he started off the game with two early threes to help his team go ahead early. Throughout the weekend he showed flashes of the footwork and three level scoring ability that sees him dominate the winters with Salam.

Badwan was instrumental in helping Chapman Basketball Academy North to a 60-46 win over Pro Lane Walz. The muscular wing made a couple of big threes late and also finished with his strength on drives to the basket to help his team maintain a lead. He finished the game with a game-high 19 points while also moving the ball and grabbing his fair share of rebounds on both ends of the court.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see Mohammad compete for leading scorer in the state this upcoming high school season. As a sophomore last winter he put up 28.7 ppg for Salam, and we could see that number increase even more as a junior. Mohammad has a very strong frame as a high schooler, able to simply overpower opposing wings on his way to the rim. He was competing on the glass on both ends of the floor, and scored with impressive efficiency on the volume of shots he was taking. Someone who has the confidence and ability to score from just about anywhere on the floor.

Some players just have a natural feel for the game and make the right play almost every time down the court. Badwan is one of those players. At a sturdy 6-foot-3, Badwan can set screens on the perimeter, toss in three-point shots with ease, and muscle his way to the basket to score or get fouled. He has put up impressive numbers at Salam School, averaging 28.7 points and 8.6 rebounds a year ago. But he is much more than just a small-school standout. He proved at The Expo he can play with the better players in Wisconsin and more than hold his own.
